Hi I’m Richard just bought 2 ltr Z3. About a week after buying it I it took for a run had a stop, then when starting to go back home the airbag light come on, we may think it may have been the wife adjusting her seat for the first time and upsetting something.
Once home I read up on the articles, also drivers seat had movement so ordered a reset tool B800 and some seat replacement bushes.
On trying the reset tool E10 came up, I read articles that this sometimes happens when tool not seated down or needs a trim to allow pins to go down further, tried again making sure it was home properly still E10, when disconnected and started up the airbag light flashed couple of times then went out.Started up again it flashed again then dimmed out, when I start now it doesn’t come on at all any suggestions would be appreciated, I’m in Somerset if anyone local Cheers
I done the bushes (drivers seat) and cleaned all connections just in case as seat had a lot of movement, will take out passenger seat and check connections tomorrow just incase.

When you say you've cleaned all the connections did you spray with contact cleaner? Try that with both seats before you send any money as it's free (worked for me). It could be one or more of the wires under the seat(s) has been nicked or ot could be the seat belt pretensioner.

Before I reconnected all connectors I did spray contact cleaner, will do same on passenger seat tomorrow, what concerns me is E10 code which says not talking to system then light flashing before not working.

Further to work yesterday, I have taken passenger seat out checked all connections under the seat and cleaned. found the cable to the side below seat belt connection the cable tie had come off and cable not in connected, replaced it into connector (small yellow plug two pins) and secured in place.
checked fuses 41 and 42 they are all fine. still no airbag light tried the reset tool again (B800) still code E 10. Finally tried the advise of trimming the 20 pin collar down as someone had done on a previous forum note as pins did not fully contact still...... same code E 10 again.
Finally connected a Memoscan U381 to the twenty pin under bonnet (using the B800 extention connector), came up with no fault codes. any help would be much appreciated

Hi, sorry to hear you are having issues with your new zed. Still, you are in the right place here, plenty of knowledge on this forum. Though it can get a bit quiet on hete over the winter months as most garage queens are safely under warm blankets. Keep an eye on the forthcoming events as these are really good for meeting and discussing any problems with others.
