Morning everyone 🌞
We went to addenbrookes yesterday, about Alan’s eye , the consultant said no change with the eye , which isn’t bad , but it isn’t good either .😕
As it means he still can’t see out off his eye .😟
Alan had various tests done , and he failed them all .🥲
We asked lots of different questions but the consultant couldn’t answer most off them .😞
So really we’re non the wiser than before we went .🙁
Time will tell I expect 👍

Any likely date set for plate fitment Shelly?
We’re got a appointment at addenbrookes next Thursday 🌞
I don’t think it will be too long a wait 🙂
As his skull needs pulling up about half a inch 🙁

Ouch, that must be putting pressure on the brain. Will be a big hurdle cleared when that is done.
Yes I’ll be really pleased when this operation has been done 🌞
Im dreading it , I’ll be very nervous and emotional on the day of surgery 🌞

We had a couple of appointments at addenbrookes last Thursday
The first appointment was for Alan’s head at the maxillo facial surgery clinic, we see the consultant he explained about the brakes and fractures in Alan’s skull , we see the 3d scans of Alan’s skull , the consultant said he’s not going to do the brakes and fractures near Alan’s brain as it’s too dangerous, he’s has over 18 fractures just around his eye socket, about 48+ in his head in total, the consultant said he didn’t want to do the surgery straight away as he doesn’t want to damage his eye any more than it has been damaged.
Then we went to the eye clinic orthoptist and they done a lot of different tests on Alan’s eyes , hes got double vision, at the end of the tests the consultant near enough said unless he wears a patch over the injured eye , he will always have double vision.
So not really good news , so we’re in a waiting game to see what happens.
But we can wait 🌞🌞

A patch to improve constant double vision is not the end of the world. Alan, you and everyone whose opinions actually matter will get used to it.

He is alive and operations to strengthen his skull will follow to keep him safe.

Try to stay positive.

I dealt with one of the most harrowing things in my life on Friday, but everyone involved will move on as hard as it may be and as long as it may take.

Best of luck to you both

Difficult and challenging times and no one knows what you and your family are going through - only you. I sincerely hope that life for Alan, you and family will get back to some sort of new normal through time. Time is a healer - stay strong - firm - and hope for the best outcome for Alan.

With very best wishes!

David.

Hi Shelly, Lynne and I have just come across your thread and are saddened to hear of Alan’s horrific accident and at the same time, lifted, that he is recovering. It can be emotionally and physically draining when we are thrust into the full time carers roll and we can easily forget to look after ourselves as well. As others have said, you are no good to Alan if you are not well yourself.
The medical fraternity these days are outstanding and I’m sure Alan has the best talented people on his case.We look forward to hearing of his continued recovery.
Keep your chin up and stay well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.
Lynne and Tom

Keep being strong and all will be fixed.
My wife is an army doctor and has seen many similar cases. She is asking if the diplopia (double vision) is the result of a retina injury or a clot is blocking the nerves?
For the skull injury she says its too early for the doctors to operate because they want the tissues to heal first and get rid of all the dried blood and fluids that are there. The body will do it by itself with some medical help.
Then they will decide on how and when they will fix the skull (titanium plate or synthetic bone depending on the condition).
The most important is that he made it and he is going to get better every day.
keep in mind that in any case (as probably you already know) if vertigo, nausea, severe migraine and/or “white noise in the ears” (hssssssss) appear you have to call your doctor immediately for further instructions.
best wishes from me and her.

Thank you @Zephyr 🙂
The double vision is due the accident, it’s a retina injury 🙁
We will get their in the end , it’s going to be a long road to travel 🙁
But as long as Alan is with us it doesn’t matter 🙂
