I glad the hospital is being very supportive with accommodation for you Shelly so you can be near. I hope Alan makes a speedy recovery, with an head injury like that on top of effects from sedation and other drugs it’s not unusual for patients to say strange things but will improve over time. Best wishes from me 🤗

Alan is feeling much better, I took him to the cafeteria in a wheelchair yesterday.
The consultants are very pleased with him , considering he wasn’t meant to make it 12 days ago.
His right eye is going down too , but we still don’t know about his sight yet , he’s always got antibiotics and other creams in his eye to keep it lubricated.
Thank you all for the lovely messages 🌞

Brilliant! I know that tremulous feeling of relief very well. He's on the right road.

Hi Shelly, Ive never met you or Alan but feel I know you enough to write. When I first read the news on here I was really shocked and saddened for Alan, you and your family. This is going to be a difficult and frustrating time but already it sounds like there is some positive news and being on the road to recovery. It may be a winding one but you are on it and hopefully the sun shines more and more and you can take the roof off.
Best Wishes
Paul

Shelly,
Good to hear that Alan is started to improve. The human body is an amazing thing in its powers of recovery. Hope the improvements continue at a steady pace so you can get Alan back home as soon as possible. Everyone on the Forum have you both in their thoughts.
👍

Thank you all for your lovely messages 🤩
I took Alan down to the cafeteria today in a wheelchair, just for a change of scenery
It wore him out , but that is to be expected
He really wants to get home
Thank you all for caring xxxx

We’re home ……..👍
But Alan is still so poorly 😞
Just think 3 weeks ago he was on a life support machine 😲
He‘s made a great recovery but we’re still got a long way to go 🤩
Were got a appointment next Wednesday to see about having plates put onto his skull because of all the fractures and brakes 🙂
Ill keep you all updated as to what is happening 🌞

Good news - good luck ! Its a slow process . . . Time really is a wonderful healer.

I can't claim to know your circumstances, mine was different, motor cycle accident (head on with a Toyota Corolla), broken arm (healed after 6 weeks) and leg (problems). I had 3 months in hospital, 3 months home in a wheel chair and 2 years on crutches. I stopped counting operations after 13.

It's baby steps, but all things do heal. One day at a time. Rest. Recover. Don't Rush. Let the body heal and trust the experts.

But generally except the fractures and the pain he is ok? Right?
We’re not quite sure yet
As he might of lost the sight in one of his eyes
He can only drink through a straw at the moment
As you can imagine eating is very hard, addenbrookes said to have liquified food
Alan can’t have any light in the room as it hurts his eyes too much
His head is very painful
Lots more things going on but I’m sure we will get their in the end
It’s very early days , only 3 weeks since he was on life support
But baby steps to the end of the road
