Just over a week ago I got a knock on my door from 2 police officers……..
They told me Alan had had a accident at work which was life threatening ……..
I though he’s office based , what ever has happened…….
It turned out the men we’re having trouble doing a job on the shop floor ……
So Alan went to help then …….
To cut a long story short , Alan was jacking something up and a piece of machinery broke and hit him on the right side of his face and he fell backwards .
He was flown straight to addenbrookes from where he works ……
The metal that broke was quite big as you can imagine as he works for a company in the oil and gas industry …….
Alan was in a coma for over 2 days , they said he has lost his sight in the right eye , he has fractures and broken bones to his skull , he had blood coming out of his ears and nose , his head was very swollen including his right eye , the hospital didn’t think he would make it …..
Alan had a operation on his foot yesterday as his big toe was broken they have put pins in it …..
The hospital just hope when the swelling goes down in his head that the broken bones and fractures knit back together
but if they don’t I don’t know what will happen…..
Their is lots more going on , but i thought I’d tell you some of it ……
Ive been staying at Addenbrookes in the Emergency accommodation, my family are taking it in turns to stay with me …
Alan is making very good progress…….

Oh dear, that is dreadful news Shelly. Can you speak to Alan and how are you dealing with things yourself?
Do keep us posted it's good to share. Best wishes for Alan and yourself.
Yes Alan has now started to talk , but he’s asleep most of the time , which is good as it will help him heal , because of the medication he’s on he keeps saying strange things , like he getting out of bed and going for walks , but he can’t get out of bed ……

Dear Shelly,
I cannot imagine what you are going through - in fact I had to read your post twice in order to comprehend the awful event that you and Alan are experiencing.
At times like these, the family is a great support and I am sure they will be adding all the comfort they can. As the messages pour in from fellow forum members, I hope you both can take some comfort that there are other people thinking of you and will support you both in any way we can.

Wishing Alan a continued and speedy recovery but also to you, continued strength, in order to support him and get back to health as soon as possible.

Kindest Regards
