Sorry to see this.
How is the cars internal structure? Has that been touched?
Like the front crossmember (think it is called like that)? As the bonnet catches are attached to that. Very likely it will have some damage too.
The "arsorbers" where the bumper is on. that will have taken a good blow too.
A lot of damage. I suppose the impact speed was not that high?
As the Z3 is low to the ground, the forces are more scooped up and going through towards the bonnet.
The bonnet is only a thin sheet of metal. And certainly on a big surface like the bonnet, it can't take much force.
The front light seems completely smashed too....and that does need a lot more force to get smashed like that.

Tell the insurance company it is a youngtimer....the word alone will increase the value (and therefore the possibility they don't scrap it)

Hi HT
Not a pretty sight. Hope the boss survived the crash or was he/she hospitalised but not necessarily as a result of the collision.
I bet the air around there was pretty blue post accident.
All the best I really hope it gets sorted.
Best wishes

Our worst nightmare, but done by someone else! Gees mate, so sorry to hear this. What a downer. I hope it can all be sorted properly. If it's only bodywork damage I guess it might be ok for repair. I hope so.

Best wishes

Bonzo.

Thank's for the PM Koen, good to know that you can make the bonnets if I should need one. You obviously have a point about the crossmember and other parts under the bonnet at the front of the car.
I was looking at below drawing last night.
I will give the "Youngtimer" idea a go.
I have not seen the car yet, maybe this afternoon or tomorrow, but not looking forward to it.

HT,

That doesn't seem correct.
A Z3 doesn't have a noose like that.
part 21 is not from a Z3, but an E36.
Don't know about the rest.
(E36's and Z3's do share same parts)

Yes it is and the coupe is a E36/8. BMWFANS and RealOEM are not always quite right with their drawings.

Drawings eh, who needs em anyway? I will just do a Gaz and buy lots of drill bits and hit it with a sledge hammer.....;)
Right, spoke to the owner of the body shop in his office this evening but did not get to see the car as it was locked away for the night, Was not bothered not seeing it if I may be honest.
He asked if the Z had hit a black Renault Twingo as that had come in at the same time and was parked next to my car!
Koen (Stormy_be) was right, there is damage to the frame work under the bonnet but the radiator looks (stress the word looks) OK.
The chap was pleased for me that I am insured fully comp (all risk) but warned me that the insurance company would probably go ballistic when they hear the price of a new bonnet.
All you Zorg people, be careful out there..........

Spoke with the body shop today, as what they call the 'Insurance Expert' over here, had been in their place yesterday to look at my car.
Deep Breath......
He valued the Z at Euro 4.750,00
Wait for it.......
Repair cost Euro 4.946.96 = write off.
Wait for it again......
He new someone who would take it away for Euro 1,500.00
(I did not know that spurs fan in a coupe had contacts over here;))
The hardtop and fitting kit are worth more.
I was surprised at the price of a new OEM bonnet, Euro 900 and something ex VAT, not as bad as I expected.
A quick calculation: I think if the repair cost would be under Euro 3,250.00 it could be a goer, if the insurance company plays ball.

Is buying it back from the insurers not a possibility Mike. If they let you buy it back for 1500 euro, would it be possible to repair it?

Bit curious the bill is so high, but someone waiting in the wings to take it away cheap...

That sounds a scam to me
it would worth scrap max £150
My friend had that happen to him, a third party bought
it, it was on the roads in no time fully repaired
Its normally the repairers who do this, they see a big profit

Sorry to hear this HT, I think we should have a z3 party at yours, instead of bring a bottle we could all bring a piece z3 that is required to help get it back on the road.

I bet Badman could polish that out with his dual action!

;-)

Sorry to see that. It's always a dreadful shame when someones pride and joy comes to grief. Easy done though.

Hi Mike bad news for sure. I'll contribute a part or two from ebay or wherever if Brian's idea takes shape. Might even be that vacation I need to my next favourite country. Can you get another "expert" opinion. Will PM YOU! JIM
