A year in the making.... Update 22/1/18

What a great Z3, just goes to show what can be done to these wonderful little BMs, you've certainly put heart and sole into it Ant and the complements are well deserved. All it needs now is a OEM boot spoiler.:wtf: =))
Rha, Roy.
At most it may get a boot lip spoiler like @t-tony had fitted to his 3 but undecided if i like them but may get one and see how it looks.

That's one great looking car mate, everything you've done just works great, Interior and the wheels are just tops Ant. All in a year is unbelievable mate.

Tony.

Thanks Tony its been a good year on many levels the car just evolves.
It brought me here and have met so many good people that have helped along the way.
Not sure it will ever be done but its well on its way and enjoying every minute of it.

Too true mate, I don't think any of our cars will ever be truly finished because there's always something else that someone else has done which catches our eye. I have a (reasonably) short list of things I want to do this summer and no.1 is underway. More to follow.

Tony.

I got loads to catch up on yet, including your help back in February, jeeze that seems like a long time ago already. If it's raining cats and dogs tomorrow I may get some more done.

Tony.

Always good starting off on a good base, some nice touches you've achieved over the last year.
Searched for a good car at the right money and i found it, they are out there normally don't appear when you look but this fell right , but right at the point i thought i just wouldn't find a good one as some peoples ideas of perfect and as new are vastly over rated !!

You have done lots since the turn of the year and tomorrow seems to be a good day weather wise.
Makes a change for a bank holiday !

Totally agree I should have used my head more than my heart in hindsight with mine but should still be able to break even if I do the other jobs on mine but undecided to part ex it or changed to a lot newer tin folding top Z4

If we mange to break even then its all good but do we ever? If it has the right mods/look and the condition is good they should hold good value in the market and people will pay for the right car.
Value on anything is usually in what the person wants ,if its what they want and they can afford it they will most of the time pay the price but its all down to taste which is personal.

Don't get me wrong every time I go home and jump in mine I love it but at that empass to spend more to bring it upto spec considering I've had the engine rebuilt and I think the ///M would be an investment or part ways. Still plenty of time for me to think about it but it it weren't for that engine rebuild but never mind it's nice to see other nice projects you've done well.

Great jobs Ant!! Well thought out. Wish I could get at mine with the same enthusiasm but nothing really going wrong that needs fixing but should get the new hood on it and once Stacey ships it the ACS shifter and stick to install! But will never be as nice as your's. JIM

Thanks Jim still may get a hardtop at some point but in all honesty not sure it would be used it would be more to say i have one and i could have a new soft top cheaper.
Nothings really failed on this the thermostat went south but thats been it and the aircon wants new o rings to seal its self had it charged but it leaked but i could see where from so another job but not somthing this car really needs but its there so it should be fixed.
Lots left to go at and smiling at the prospect

So an update on a few things done after redying the interior have just wanted to add the final bits to it.
Handbrake lever, Gear knob and to really finish it a steering wheel from Royals.

The craftsmanship in Royals steering wheels is supurb.
20160602_191119.webp

Added a small Hardon Kardon badge to the rear grill , some one here had done it and thought it a nice touch.
20160602_192735.webp

Had changed the rear ariel to a stubby but found the reception naff so from seeing an alternative on @Grumpy car asked what it was from and brought one. Its a good 6 inch shorter but as its the same type the radio works well and its not bad on the eye.

The wheels had got standard BMW centre caps so have replaced them with the AC Schnitzer ones more inkeeping with the wheel and added matching dust caps (one for @Andy McDonnell )=))=))
20160602_193134.webp

Having removed the Bmw badges from the side in keeping with the black theme i wrapped all the other badges in carbon fibre to tie them in. I could have brought some badges but why when i can just alter what i have and its reversible.
Steering wheel , bonnet and boot done even did the number plates

And finally plucked up the courage to turn the mirrors they work with ease now a good thing to know if i want to tuck them in.

More things in the pipe line with all this time on my hands my new best friend is ebay although my bank account isn't best pleased =))
