You know how we Americans don't understand English. I believe "a good punch up" may be a colloquial expression for having punch? And "after Christmas Day" is the day after or any day soon after?

Boxing day is the day after Christmas day (26th Dec), it is a bank holiday here in England. In years gone by it was traditional to open your presents on this day, hence "boxing day".
