They are only wider at the back, due to the flared wheel arches. The whole car isn't any wider.

It's all down to supply and demand. They are getting harder to find, so they tend to get snapped up. Mine will always stay with the car, whether I use it or not.

This might be a bit late, but sports seats especially out of a facelift model might have different electrical connectors to your existing ones. Just something to consider when buying. Probably easily resolved as lots of people do it, but it might not be the straightforward unplug and plug back...
