Having said that. Those aluminium V8's did a have a glitsch. There's no steel cylinder liner. Just ally. Well almost. There's, kind of, hard crystals embedded into the ally and the idea is that the the piston rings will wear the aluminium away exposing the crystals which prevent further wear. But it didn't quite work coz the crystals are so hard they cause the rings to wear excessively and you get a lot of blow by into the crank case. I had a coke bottle in the engine bay connected to the breather and could collect half a litre of oil if I went for a thrash up the autobahn. But I still loved it - part ex'd it for the E300 estate mentioned elsewhere in this thread. and that's the thing i regret.

Some old school steel liners and it would have been a gem

I wont argue that . It had a Ford V4 in it , column shift . Fiberglass and front wheel driveIt's ugly but I think I like it

A Transit engine in a car. I had one of those, a Mk.1 Consul (Think Granada shape) bright green (you needed sunglasses to look at it) About 3 feet from front of engine to front of the car.

Manged to find a pic - I paid £650 for this XR3i. can't remember what i sold it for but I reckon you could stick another nought on that price today.

XR3i Convertible- Pink - proper hairdressers car- but was a magnet!
Porsche 928 S2-Black- Remember having 4 up and speedo off the clock, only slowed down as I thought there was smoke- but it was the spray from the rear hitting under the bridges
XR2 Mk2 - with after market turbo. Stuck a Janspeed on it and the whistle was mad
Three Volvo XC90's - all great. My first one was when they first came out, went to NZ/Australia for a few months and therefore sold it. Got more for it than I paid for new!

I'd love an XC90, I think it would be my choice of brand new car. Friend of mine has one of the very first on a 52 plate, its done over 350000 now without any major issue.
I had three of the original versions...my first I think was 52 plate- a willow green one, then later had a dark grey one, then last was Black. Great Cars at the time for a growing family

No redeeming features ? ha ! I drove that sucker from Ohio to Florida one year , got close to 50 MPG ! I would love to get that now . Plus , I did alot of dating in that car so...
No hot cars for me, I liked my Ford Xr4i but would have preferred the Cosworth. Astra GTE not to bad for a front wheel drive. My first car was a 850 Mini with a 1275gt engine in, red with black roof, spats for the wide wheels but I took the spacers off the front after witnessing my mates front wheel coming off. I’m sure my custom dash is still in my parent’s loft. I still wished I had my old Yamaha RD350lc F2 though, suprised me how much they are secondhand now.
Saw a nice one recently in Midhurst.

Has to be my third car that I owned around 1971, a black 1966 MGB GT. I went to look at it with my late Dad (he was Foreman in an Austin Rover garage at the time) and after a test drive he diaganosed a duff differential so we got a bit knocked off. I'm convinced looking back that it was a bit special, as it was Black with chrome wire wheels which as far as I'm aware were very rare options on the car at the time. The earliest example of a Black MGB GT I found was a 1967 car. So mine might of been a press/promotional car.
