Remote locking not working

Not sure what module mate, but its black and has a tiny hole, the switch is inside the small hole, it rocks to one side with a small screwdriver at this point you press the remote button, the car locks, press again to unlock and put the rocker switch back in the lock position

So I took out my glovebox and found that other thread @Sean d was talking about it's called "3G EWS Remote Fob Programming".
My 99 pre facelift 2.8 doesn't have that module there's just an empty space where it's supposed to be.

I'm having the same issue as @Duncraig where my fob led flashes 10 times when I follow the ignition/button press method and nothing happens with the locks.

Not sure what to do now

Well success at last!
I've faffed about with various things, new key battery, different sync procedures but nothing worked so I decided to do a logical fault find.
I removed and dismantled the interior mirror and buzzed out cable from the board to the socket at the windscreen and all good. With power back on I found there was only 1.4V to pin 2 which is the permanent feed to the receiver. I couldn't find where the green / red wire went into the fusebox as it's very thin and there's a mass of wires down there so I spliced a feed to the board from the permanent feed to the analogue clock and the key synced at the first attempt. Splicing power feed not up to BMW standards (?) but hey it works and one happy bunny!

Which plug are we talking about here. Is it the one that comes from the roof?

In fact I've gone out and tested the plug that comes from the roof. Here are the results.

Pin2 - 11.9v
Pin3 - 0v
Pin4 - 11.6v
Pin5 - 0v
Pin6 - 0v
Pin7 - 0.48v
Pin8 - 11.6v
Pin9 - 0v
Pin10 - 0v

Old thread, but I give it a try. I have the same problem. How did you measure? What was used as ground?
