Has anybody found out how to obtain the under bonnet paint code please. The car is Titan Silver 354/7 code.

Under bonnet paint is "creamier" in colour and non metallic I think. Have searched this site (and others) without success.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ian

You and me both. Same colour, same time. Search the internet. Loads of debates with no consensus. I've got an email in with a company 'who knows' apparently. I doubt it...

Type of paint - opinions range from unlacquered top coat, to tinted primer, to 'special' underbody paint. Colour - not Titan Silver we know that much. Might be something to do with Artic Silver.

Apparently even BMW paintshops can't obtaining it and have to mix specially.

Who knows... well I too hope someone on here does.

Go along to Johnston Paints, apparently according to the TV advert they can match any colour, even your curtains and toaster =))

If you still have the sticker on the nearside strut turret it tells you the body colour in the large writing and the small writing at the bottom is the engine bay colour in my case both dakar yellow

I'm afraid certainly in the case of Titan Silver the paint is not the same colour in the engine bay as the exterior paint and/or the paint sticker. It's almost an off white.

There are also schools of thought that the paint is not unlacquered exterior paint but a tinted primer. I'm not sure about that as mine has a definite sheen to it.

Honest guv'nor ;)

Unfortunately the paint code for the under bonnet is not on the strut sticker. It shows the main outer colour of the car and the part number for the sticker itself.
Looks like this is on of life's unsolved mysteries. A trip to a paint factor seems on the cards for a custom match.:(

@Tim beard knows about this as we were discussing it for my car, he said it's a tinted primer and not available as a paint code I believe. Needs to be mixed to suit whatever they used on that car (it varies, some are grey/black inside, some a bit like body colour..not sure what those Americans were thinking in the factory..not seen it on other cars which are just body colour inside).

hi guys , the under bonnet colour is a factory coloured primer from the factory , and when they spray the out sides a small amount of paint gets in and they are happy with that , pleased some one is I am pretty sure I can make under bonnet colours on my paint scheme at work

I'm not sure it is a primer (may be totally wrong) as it polishes up well and is quite hard. There is no Titan Silver "overspray" under bonnet on my car as far as I can see. Why they didn't spray under bonnet same as outer at manufacture is beyond me: could it be the under Bonnet paint is more heat resistant? Clutching at straws now!:)

It's a factory oe primer which is baked on at very high temperature which helps it with heat and oil resistance & gloss level , and the reason why they done paint boot and bonnet areas is so they save millions of pounds on paint

The one highlighted is under bonnet colour for titan silver
That's an interesting step forward Tim, thanks. Is that a BMW data base? Can't see FO3 listed on any of the paint suppliers data bases, any idea where the paint can be obtained from?

If you have a local car paint distributor they should be able to put it in a rattle can for you , failing that come and see us and I will make it for you

Cheers Tim. Assuming you are not south coast, I will try a paint supplier (Auto Paint Supplies) in Southampton next week. They seem to be closed today, understandably. I only need to touch in a couple of small scabs that I have treated, but would like to get it right. Appreciate your help, many thanks. Ian

Brian is correct... I went to the BMW approved body shop to confirm that. Don't bother asking the likes of Halfords to match it, I did and it was way off the mark. I went to the dealer and ordered a can. It was about £20

That's great thanks @Tim beard

Have you ever applied any of that particular paint code? I'm just wondering if the database definitely matches reality?

If I google F03 it comes up as Titan Silver matt. The matt is fine but the colour itself under the bonnet is not Titan Silver. But I wonder if it really means the under bonnet colour that goes with Titan Silver.
