I think mine are 8.5j all round mate and I have issues with tyre size on the front. Go for staggered if possible.Anyone have or know of a set of AC Schnitzer TypeIII 18"alloys for my 2.8 Z3? 7.5 Front / 8.5 Rear, however I believe 8.5 all round will be good. Thanks Pete

Hi Dave, I'm looking to go for the look w4kins had/has on his Gun Metal Z3 a few years back. He hasn't come back to me so perhaps he's moved onto another car? He was running 8.5's all round on 18".
So I assume you don't get any tyre rubbing on the fronts then? I assume you are on 225/?? on front and 255/?? on rear?
Anyway hope your good and Dave and I are going to try and get anyway from the Aeropark (and work) to go to the Midland meet at Sheepshead tomoz. Cheers Pete
Be good to see you both. Don't know about w4kins. Never seen him on here. I'm running 225/40/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the rear. Just to be a complete pedant 8.5j on the front is fine depending on the offset. The offset on my Breytons and @Grumpy's wheel are around 40/41 so fit on the front with 205 width slightly stretched tyres. Any wider tyre on the front and they would probably look gnarly.
I ran 8.5j all round and 225 front and back because that's what they came with and I stuck with it. Allowed me more flexibility to switch front and rear to balance tyre wear.
So that said then Gaz, you appear to have your head around this better than I! Without changing the wheels can I get rid of the stretch? Offset is 41.
The only way you could do it would be to have the inside face of the alloy machined to be thinner. Obviously I'd have no idea how practical it would be, or if there is enough alloy to allow that to happen or if that's even a thing that can be done. That way you would be lowering the offset of the alloy and bringing it in closer to the hub.
Fundamentally you are pushing the limits of the wheel dimensions and the Z3.
Bugger! What about a small spacer?
Would push the wheel further out - would increase the offset and you need to reduce it
A small spacer would make the problem worse, what Gary was suggesting was to machine some material off the inside of the the wheel mount (not really a viable option) to allow the wheel to sit inside the arch a little more.

Danger Danger - tampering with alloy offsets directly is not recommended. Sorry to challenge your post Gaz.
Hi Pete @koolflyer, if you and Dave fancy a Sunday afternoon drive out I'm having a get together at my local, like we did at the Trentport at Gainsborough last year. Yeah it appears to be all a fine balance and that ET (off set) figure is key here, depending tyre dimensions. Spacers for you Dave is just going to make the ET distance greater which is not what you want.
