depends....if the Z is on a trailer behind my LR, going to the track....that would be fine, right?

...On normal roads the spoiler will only mess up his MPG

I thought the idea of a rear spoiler was to force air up and the back which forces the car down to the road improving handling and not from shielding the driver from the sun !!!

its going to be interesting when he gets some real speed on and the wing lifts the front and it goes all light on him

How fast do you think he would have to be going for that to happen? Swamps. 140MPH perhaps, perhaps a bit faster?

My 1.9 used to get very light around the 100 mark.... Pushing the back down is only going to make it worse.. Unless he fits the splitters

Gents are we perhaps missing something here !!! It's a MX5 so probably won't go fast enough to generate that much downforce anyway !!

It might . . . . . if the boot was empty!

If a Standard 1.9 gets light on the front end at 100 mph, adding a spoiler, especially one as large as the one on that MX5, will probably make it flip over backwards!!!!:ymdevil:

There is a difference between a rear spoiler and a rear wing, a rear wing is used to generate downforce, and really does not start to become effective until around 70 - 80mph, so most of us would see no benefit in one. A rear spoiler on the other hand is there to break up or spoil the air flow over the car in a particular way so as to improve fuel efficiency, which is why so many modern cars have these small rear lip spoilers. So I think the MX5 is just a mobile picnic table, quite handy really on a cruise.

But where would you fit the beer taps?

:bashhead:...

It doesn't need the back pushing down..the hairdryer scissors and styling products will do that nicely!
