I spend some of my time attending classic car auctions - mostly to drool over things that I wished I could afford but sometimes with a view to picking up something interesting. On Saturday 22nd at Kings Lynn there are three Zeds

A 1998 Z3M Coupe with guide price of £11,000 - £13,000
A 1998 Z3 Roadster 2.8 with guide price of £11,600 - £2,000
A 2001 Z8 Roadster with a guide price of £140,000 - £160,000

Don't thinks its a huge surprise with the Z8 or Coupe in this environment but is it the start of Z3 roadsters being recognised as future collectables??

Link below to see what else is on offer - including some nice other BMWs... I do like the 635 CSi in particular

Seems cheap - should easily reach that I would have thought.
A 1998 Z3 Roadster 2.8 with guide price of £11,600 - £2,000
Seems expensive, can't see it making anywhere near that.

My personal take on Z3's as future collectables is that we are still a bit early for non-///M's being collectable, but the ///M's will be there soon!

EDIT: Just noticed your typo on the guide price for the Z3... £1,600 to £2,000...

I'm wondering about the Z8 @GazHyde, do you think it's......... If we sold the Florida villa I could buy that easily, but then divorce would be expensive.=))

The z3m Coupe should sell in or over that price bracket

Thanks for correcting the mistake Gaz - it must be an age thing. You're never really sure of what you're going to get a an auction of course.

I agree that the Coupe is definitely under-priced but could be in really poor condition, despite the excellent write up. It could go for stacks more that the guide price (they often do!) or of course could be a real bargain. I'm hoping to go tomorrow and if I do will report back on sold prices.

I think the coupe is a little under priced but the mileage reflects that.

Mileage is not an issue for some, the lower mileage cars command the premium.

With high mileage wear and tear in and out of the car is prevalent,

I didn't go to the auction in the end on Saturday - principally because my son's Mini was poorly and I had to hold spanners and make tea while he fixed it.

The Coupe went for £9,600 - well under the £11,000 - £13,000 guide price. Either not what it appeared when seen in the flesh or someone got a real bargain.
The roadster went for for £2,205 - a little more than the £1,600 - £2,000 guide price
The Z8 went for £152,250 - just in the middle of the guide price of £140,000 - £160,000

My 'play' budget, which is what I can justify spending on my fun car wouldn't stretch to the Coupe let alone the Z8!
