I have been a busy bee with my zed 2.5i se over the last few months and finally I have finished....or rather I have had enough!
I have fitted Interior LED footwell lights - remote controlled with a wide range of colours, then LED strip light in the boot.....I had a bit spare but it is stuck on blue.
Then I fitted new bilstein b4 shocks and eibach springs at the rear complete with reinforcement plates. Few weeks later I did the front shocks and springs....still not happy with the handling.
Now the fronts.....getting the springs off is a complete pita as there is little room to get the spring compressors on, there is a technique to this!
In a bid to improve the handling I fitted a Whiteline 22mm arb and polyurethane bushes, that did not go smoothly, whiteline had drilled the holes on the blades at 10mm whilst the drop link bolts are 8mm....aaargh! At work I machined brass bushes but for a 12mm hole as a 1mm thick bush is very thin. Took the arb off again (devil of a job) and drilled it out to 12mm, the blades are hardened and was a real job... Lots of swearing! Lol. Got that fitted and had a few well earned beers!
Went to fit the whiteline front Arb....nothing like the correct shape....whiteline had mixed up e85 and e89! After a few weeks whiteline supplied an E46 arb at 27mm and fitted like a glove, I now have same thickness arb's as a z4m.
Still not happy though as the zed sat lower by 10mm on the offside, I know it's within BMW spec but not happy. So I fitted a 10mm lower spring pad, but there is not the movement in the suspension to get the spring out due to the whiteline.....of comes the arb...what bu**er of a job!
Car sits flat but is only 20mm lower than se springs now but the ride and handling is excellent!
Fitted some alloy pedal covers but they are e46, only cost £16 from China. I had to make brackets to securely fix them to the pedals and cut the foot rest to fit, a bandsaw comes in handy for this.
Then a mewant steering wheel cover....quite a few hours work, needed a few beers after that one!
Relocated the roof motor into the boot...lots of problems but got there in the end.
New Goodyear F1 assy5's fitted all round. Hunter alignment booked for next week.
Yesterday I machine polished and waxed twice with meguiars canauba wax and a coat R222 on top.
I now have thoughts of painting the calipers gold and getting a custom made exhaust to let out a bit of sound?
