I've had the 2000 Z3, 3.0i for a couple of months now and have been sorting out a baseline maintenance schedule. Oil, Mobil 1 5W-30 land filter (MANN) was the first job; plugs (NGK BKR 6 EQUP) and a bottle of injector cleaner to follow. Whilst replacing the engine oil I noticed a valve cover leak (not uncommon I've read) so decided to replace the gasket set and bolt rubber seals. Those of you who've done this will know it's a painstaking process but there are plenty of 'how to' You Tube videos out there. My problem was not the doing of but finding an OE quality gasket replacement set, without forking out for the BMW dealership mark up. I won't bore you with my round- robin search but I found a UK based supplier - BMW Parts On-Line - which matched the set and rubber seals to my VIN. If you don't already have a parts supplier this might be worth a look-see.

Thanks for posting links.. valve cover gasket on a 3l are pretty common. Elring do one and never had an issue with their quality.
