Does anyone know if the headlight lenses are removeable from the unit, they look as though they are held on with some Spring clips.

dont think so, im sure when the halo type lights are retro fitted there is some mention of bunging them in the oven to soften the sealer.
You can split the lenses off the plastic part of the units, but you need to heat up the sealant between the two. The best way to do this is by putting them in the oven, or you can try with a heat gun if you have the patience.
