Came over the moors from Whitby in the evening sun yesterday and was joined across the road to Pickering by a beautiful black Z3 reg D4 *** which continued towards York when I turned to Thirsk. Thanks for the toot and hope you got home sound. Your Z3 looked very special in the mirror - a low down view I had never seen before.

I'm jealous....some fantastic roads in that lovely part of the world.

It was a fabulous evening and I'd taken the good lady for a trip along the coast, cutting down from Whitby, past RAF Fylingdales and into Pickering and then to Helmsley and Thirsk via Sutton Bank - 25% climb on the outward leg - and home a few miles away. Open topped for most of it - did me the power of good. If you are ever out this way it really is worth the trip - Whitby to be avoided in school hols, but the moors and Heartbeat country are very special. About 70 minutes to Thirsk from East Mids I would say.

Been there a few times in the zed, even took some pics of the car outside Scripps garage once and had a picnic somewhere on the moors by a lovely stream.
Will definitely make the trip there again some time :).

We've done that run a few times, all the way from Truro. We usually overnight in Wolves with family then onto York the next day. We always do Whitby and Scarborough and did a run westwards to see our niece at Catterick Garrison. We've also done Goathlands a few times too. We love that part of the country.

A few of us (about 6) on here did it a few years ago in the Winter snow. Cold but top down most of the time. Only went to Whitby for the fish n chips

On the lanes in Richmondshire this evening for a short sunset jaunt - looks like fog tonight.
