To accompany my Z3 cup holder I've been looking for an arm rest.

I saw one on a car that was being broken so I messaged to enquire, seller said he had a lot of interest so was going to put it on auction.

Auction ended today and simply couldn't believe the price that this sold for!!

Especially considering that its second hand..

At this rate I'll be making my own out of mdf =))

And it's the USA base with "dime holders". Mine cost about the same (US$ 278) from leatherZ in Apr 16, picture below fitted.

Not worth anywhere near that for something aftermarket in my opinion. With a bit of time and effort you could make/ get one made to a much higher standard for much less I imagine. What is it? A piece of ply, a hinge, a tiny bit of foam and an offcut of vinyl? Mind you if you're lazy enough to need to rest your arm then you probably couldn't be bothered.

I know we all have our own tastes but I reckon it makes it look like a teenagers gaming chair or a premium cinema seat...at least the lucky winner has somewhere to keep their priceless dime collection

Actually thinking about it, could prove a bit more comfortable on long tours, it's only really the aesthetics of the unit that I'm not keen on, it's very functional, @Southernboy folding cup holder is pretty nifty!.. And i was not thinking the passenger could use it. (so selfish) My Dad would use it for sure, he's always complaining about sliding around on the seats, he could brace himself between the arm rest and the door card. :)

I got an armrest from Leatherzee for my Z4, it is brilliant, especially when using the step-tronic change. I wouldn't be without it now. I also bought from him some "padding" pieces for the door armrests, again, you might think why bother but again I would not be without them now either. The height of the arm rest and the door armrest are at the same level which makes for more comfortable driving. Moral of the story is, if you haven't tried it don't knock it!!

Tony.

That's an extortionate amount for that @Faheem :meh:.
As has been recommended Southernboy makes them and are surely less than that.

I bought mine from @t-tony before he sold his Z3,really pleased with it and paid £50 for it.

I thought the cup holder was/is and the arm rest aftermarket? I could be wrong.
Someone I know had been looking for what he described as an 'OEM' armrest. And not aftermarket. I told him about that and he said that was it. Otherwise wouldn't know.

That's a new one on me, I thought all these were made by leather z in the USA. They sold the units as a set combined with the OEM cup holder and coin holder as far as I'm aware, he might have considered them OEM as they offer a choice of leather that matches the colours used by BMW (tannin red, dream red etc) the only way to really know for sure is if there is a BMW part number or an obscure photo in an early US sales brochure? ..maybe you could ask him I'm curious now.
