As some of you on here will know, I am a serial Z3 enthusiast and currently have 7 cars. For the last 5 years since my interest started I've thrown myself at these cars and if I've seen an unwanted or unloved car and it's a sensible price I've tended to buy it until I've run out of space or money. Doing this was both a good route to learn quickly and a way of escaping to another world from the depression I suffer.

However I think I've now soaked up the knowledge I reasonably can from this strategy and I've decided to move to the next phase of my relationship with these cars which is to focus on the 3 I want to keep long term.

That means that 4 of my cars need to go. So this is the first one...

I bought 'Dax' last August when despite having 6 other cars at the time none of them were available for the back end of the summer. It was getting no bids on ebay so I had a last minute rush of blood to the head and bought it. With an extended leather Chameleon interior I figured even if it was a disaster I would break it instead. However despite it's 135k miles it was anything but a disaster! In fact it's a lovely car with very little to criticise apart from the mileage.

Here are some pictures I took while we had a lovely day out late last summer in the black mountains. Fly screen wind breaker not included in sale.

The only thing I've done with Dax is to start removing the current interior. I feel I'm owed that for saving him from a breaker which would have been the likely alternative buyer - outrageous! No reflection on his condition I mention breakers. Cars like this with a higher mileage are just worth much, much more in parts. Besides that the leather was peeling back on the dash and the seats needed some attention. In it's place will be going a plain black, newly refurbished interior. The seats going back in have been recovered at some time so the leather is excellent. And I will be bringing them back to perfect by making any foam repairs, ensuring they have complete seat belt guides, checking the heated elements and motors are working and doing a full, proper re-colour sprayed on. The interior is going to look very smart. This is the previous full interior refurb I did. It takes me 20-30 hours!

I will also do a full service if required for the buyer and if the full £2k asking price is met. For the full asking price I will also make good any MOT advisories from the last test and anything I think may fail next time around like brake pipes. The current MOT runs until July 2020.

Now the not so good news is I'm not the fastest gun in the west and to complete the interior refurb and even service is going to take some time. I can't start until after the end of the month. And it could easily take me 2-3 weeks to do it. So one way or another I would say this car is going to suit someone who wants a very solid, pretty 2.2 Sport, at a bargain price in return for the high mileage. Which should genuinely not concern you if your budget is only £2k or to be honest anyway. If the mileage was the right side of 100k I'd be looking for around £3.5k. You'll also need patience while I get the car ready for sale.

I can't think of too much else to say. So please fire away with any questions via PM.

Looks a great car Robert @mrscalex
The blue one with the white seats is superb, too.

Thanks. It will do someone with a limited budget very proud. Or leave someone with a bigger budget plenty of change in their pocket.

The Topaz Blue/Lotus White is alive and well with another forum member.

Looks amazing, wish you thought about selling it last week before I went out and bought one , I would have sent you the cash and you could have told me when it was ready to pick up :(

I've needed to move it on for a few weeks but was initially holding off until I'd done the work. But in the end I thought it was best to get it up on here now in case there is a buyer this arrangement works for.

I’m selling the Dakar which is all original and low mileage and I’ll be leaving it like that for the next owner. Subject to sorting the clutch and getting an MOT.

I have a Topaz Blue 2.2 having a full rear end rebuild. It’s also the car that’s had the new main loom. That will be a cracking car.

Then the 2.2 I did the engine swap and engine bay respray on. Lovely front end. Rear end needs the same love. Not a perfect car but it’s done me proud. It was used as my main car for 6 weeks when my 3GT was off the road and was superb.
