I have video of the Vulcan at the Scottish Air show awesome machine.

As I was away this weekend dealing with zed stuff I missed a modern heavyweight at Prestwick Airport on Sunday.
There was an Antonov 225 landed for a short stop seen some of the YouTube video huge aircraft. To watch it taking off your wondering whether it will get off the ground in time.

Massive Kites mate. A drove 3 34ft long Airport Fire Vehicles onto it when I was at Brize Norton years ago, just biblical size.

A great shame that she is grounded. Aeroplanes belong in the air like cars belong on the road.

My uncle also has his name on XH558. Added by his granddaughter in memory of his love for am things mechanical.
A number of Gail’s family worked at AVRO’s so might very well have had a hand in building it.
A real shame it is grounded.

I agree but they also need to be able to stay in the air. I hope they can get it back up there one day.

Tony.

Maxine is also a great Vulcan admirer it was always her favourite aircraft at air shows and has great memories of seeing it flying and up close on the ground. She has a ‘Vulcan to the sky’ T shirt bought at Dunsfold in 2009. Recently our son presented her with a certificate similar to yours Andy,
Years ago, we were at a barbecue at a friends house at Lee on the Solent. Everything was quiet and there was no warning of what was about to happen. Suddenly the Vulcan appeared from over the Solent and shot up vertically right above us. It was part of the HMS Daedalus air day, Daedalus closed down long ago and is mainly an industrial estate now, with occasional Spitfire flights from the remaining airstrip.

That used to be their party piece at airshows when I was a kid. Take off on reheat and then near vertical. In the days before noise abatement.

There used to be an annual airshow at Hucknall at the Roll Royce plant there. Nothing like seeing and hearing fabulous aircraft close up.
