I've just purchased a 2002 Z3 3.0 litre ..Its being delivered next week and I have a couple of questions

As I'm away soon for a month I'm concerned the battery will run down the factory fitted alarm (S02). I'd like to disconnect the battery and obviously not set off the alarm in doing so..Is this possible?...Ideally i'd like to disconnect the alarm altogether but that can come later

It has the original working radio cassette fitted..Does this have a code ?..I dont seem to see it in the documentation...Again what are the implications of disconnecting the battery?

I will put some photos up of the car soon as i'm sure I will have lots of questions

The radio, sometimes has the code written on it but you have to disconnect to check.
it is a four digit code.
imho it is not worthed to pay these guys who can send you the code, same money will pay for a decent aftermarket or an oem cd played.
if you disconnect the battery it will ask for the code.
About the alarm, the module is behind the glove box. You should be able to just unplug the module, but you will need to remove the glove box to access it. I guess you can unplug it.

Thanks for that

Will the alarm go off if I disconnect the battery by removing the negative battery terminal in the boot

I have not got the car here yet so it may be obvious how to do it when I its here but you say.. Remove the glove box.. What do you mean by this the interior of the glove box? If so what tools do I need?

Much appreciate your help thank-you

There are some small black caps four in total if I remember correctly that you have to pop and some Philips screws.
its just the back side of the glovebox. (At least in mine). Quite easy.
I have disconnected the battery multiple times, never had an alarm issue. (But thats me again, i am the second owner so who knows what the previous one did).

Maybe with a bit of luck in the previous 20 years of its life some kind previous owner already did the job for me!

From what I discovered, the alarm is activated only if you lock with the remote key.
so if you plan to remove the battery, it will stay silent… (i guess… at least mine does).

Invest in a good trickle charger like the Ctek MS 5.0. No need to disconnect the battery or the alarm, that's assuming that you have easy access to a power socket of course.

No access to power unfortunately otherwise that's exactly what I would be doing.. I'm taking the battery out to trickle charge at home which is why I need to disconnect it

If the battery is in good order and fully charged and there are no obvious drains on it, then it should be good for well over a month of non use. As it is new to you, I'm guessing you won't know the history, so probably wise to remove it.
