Morning all,

I've decided to make up a batch of perspex wind deflectors and see if anyone would like one. It's similar to the one I had on my M Roadster for a while - picture below to give you an idea of how they look if you haven't seen one.

These have been designed and produced with the help of a local company, so they are being professionally laser cut from high grade clear perspex (not me in the Zed Shed with a hack saw and a couple of plastic off cuts!). We now have a custom template for future use if needed.

Price £60 each which excludes postage - can most likely deliver free at one of the Zorg meets/events, or can collect from Newbury/Basingstoke area.

We have x 16 for sale. They will come with x4 black Velcro strips so it can be fitted/removed easy. There is a 2 week lead time on the Perspex so that ties in nicely with payday.

So far on the list of pre orders:

Interested, but has anybody had both this style and the BMW net style to be able to compare them. The downside of this style is that once the roof is up you can't access the area behind the roll bars. Useful for coats/fleeces.

They do personalise but it pushes the price up mate. These first 16 are clear laser cut perspex. If you wanted a personalised one you could wait till the next batch?

I had both mate, The net type makes it difficult to see clearly see behind, the clear one made it much easier. The velcro straps will make it very quick to remove.

What thickness is the Perspex? Having made a few of these in the past I would make sure it was 5mm as the thinner sheets tend to get a buffeting at speed and can vibrate a bit :coolsteer)

I have the BMW one at the moment, was wondering if you got any buffeting from the perspex one?

I get no buffeting from mine its pretty rock solid when fitted.
But its slightly different in shape to this one and dips lower in the middle to fill the gap i think @TaffZee may have drilled it and added a lower fixing though as it has the slots but it is tie wrapped in the lower middle so may have flapped abit but this has resolved it.
As this one has a gap air may flow through and stop the buffeting.

I can confirm its 5mm thick and can happily withstand speeds in excess of 170mph!

It also stays stable at all times.

How would you know Lee? careful what you admit to on this public forum =))
Driving at 170mph is not a crime. Admitting to driving at 170mph on the motorway is a crime! I drive into Europe to play in the summer. :p

How would you like it personalised? I will get him to do it before I collect them.

Nice bit of engineering there. Could really use a clear deflector in both the Z4s.
I can see the need for a 3D printer to make the surround and then insert a clear perspex screen. Another level of complexity ;-)
