Ok so again not Zed related but probably something a few forum members have had experience of. My sons newly purchased 2009 Polo has a few minor battle scars ..wondering if anyone thinks these headlight scratches would polish out…or if its a trip to the local breakers to buy a replacement. ..or leave it 😎

Yes, they will polish out but you have to be brave to do it. Start with 800, 1,000, 1200, 1500, 2,000 and 3,000 grit. and keep it wet. Oh, and it's a messy job too.

As I said Ant you have to be brave, it's not for the faint hearted mate. But, really you don't have much to lose. Just remember to apply plenty of masking tape around the light so you can't damage any of paint etc.

It's now available in the UK I'm told.

The cutting compound goes everywhere, so be prepared for the splatter.
Read post No. 2 It's just the water there is no cutting compound?

Read the internet ;) . There's more than one headlight cleaner available. The one I used has cutting compound - see the little black packet in the link. You still have to keep the mopping head wet. It wouldn't be an issue if it were just water that were being flung everywhere.

Don't need cutting compound, just the small sanding pads and a spray bottle of water or clay bar lube and keep it well lubricated.

Finally got round to doing this today ..went for the Holts kit in the end..ECP had it on offer..included drill attachment, sanding disks, abrasive and sealer. Anyway, certainly did the trick once you commit yourself to doing it…the remaining marks (and the dead insect) are on the inside…that’s a job for another day.
