I can't believe I never posted this one, but I was in San Jose too meet a guy from Germany funnily enough, and this was parked outside the apartment complex we were staying at. The front fender was pretty messed up along the bottom, and the center of it looks like it's nearing it's time to say "Toodaloo! ". Still pleasant to see and I had this opportunity to bore a german guy to death about how much I love these cars despite how tremendously unremarkable he thinks they are lol.

As an aside, holy heck San Jose is affluent.. In the same parking lot I saw a 90's Honda NSX ( german guy thought it was a ferrari lol ), a Canadian M3 E36, 2 BMW i8 roadsters... several Bavarian boar snoot 3's and 4's ( the ugly ones ) , and so much more. M badges on 318i's where nowhere to be found, to my shock. Everything else was either a Prius or Camry.

As a bonus image, can someone explain to me this weird license plate I saw on an M4...

Looks like a possible sport model ( got right bbs rims and clear lenses also looks a bit lower than standard) here in uk white zed 3 quite a rare colour a white sport model here would be very rare.

Good spot with pictures.

Maybe, the Sport models have this mesh in front of the radiator inside the middle of the front fender. On one of the photos there isn't anything there. The non-sport models have these 3 wings inside there instead so that's a toss-up. I'm gonna lean towards sport model though, as you suggested You can also see where the fog lights are removed as well.
