Here is mine 1979 Mk2 Escort 1.6
1275 gt mini ....the sub frame snapped...while i was driving it...same colour as this...dont know why they called it a GT lol

Yes there was not a lot of choice in colour was there 
Mines not listed unfortunately. It was a VW beetle "B" reg. it cost me £100 which I had to get a loan for. It only had a speedometer and it had a "dip stick" for the fuel gauge. Yes it also had a dipstick behind the wheel...lol

However I remember my Dad buying a Morris Marina 1700 Super back in the 70's with brown vinyl seats that hurt like hell in summer

My first was a '64 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, 1600 cc, 5 speed, dohc. What a screamer. My brother ran it when it was low on water and blew the head gasket. My father sold it after it was fixed. I had one English car called an 'Austin America". I'm sure they slapped this name on it to sell it over here. I'm not sure what its name was in England but the model was probably something you 're all familiar with. Good running car. The first car I bought totally with my own cash was a '70 VW beetle. I didn't know it, but the crankcase was cracked. By the time I figured it out, the warranty was over. I could have had it fixed, but decided to use the money on performance parts instead of labor and did the job myself. I got the new crankcase, 88mm pistons and cyls.,a crane fireball camshaft, Holley 2 bbl.carb, larger exhaust, hotter ignition system and a few other goodies. I'd be driving to work on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and could bury the speedo in 3rd gear. We all used our CB'S back then and everyone was asking me if I had a Porsche engine in it. My crazy days.
Aceman, I used to have a Renault Dauphine, 749cc. What a great little car. Push button automatic. Great on gas. My biggest fear driving the car was getting hit from behind. You couldn't find a car with 4 wheel disc brakes back then unless you had a 'vette. But this car had them. Came with Michelin tires before most people over here knew anything about them. Was the fastest stopping car I ever had. Always had the habit of looking in the rear view mirror when stopping fast. Took a long time after selling the car to stop constantly doing that.

My first car was a 1962 Blue Morris Mini. It came with several modifications including an Austin 1100 engine and gearbox. Not overly fast by todays standards perhaps, but then it was the best car in the world to me. I spent many happy hours improving it further, as anyone who owned a mini knows is possible. Back then, if you wanted wider wheels you got the standard ones banded, a process that was outlawed in 1980 by the DOT. Other mods included straight through exhausts and smaller steering wheels. Bucket seats were available if you had the money.

I know Mark, that is why I crashed it (not) I got my dog, who was in the back, right in the back of my neck. She was OK but I hurt like hell. Try telling your insurance company that you crashed your car and got hit by a dog.....!!!!
