It’s that time of year again when we start to think about getting the car ready for the long hot summer 🫤. Easter sales are usually a good time to buy oil … if there wasn’t a war going on ! Anyway, what are people using for their 6 cylinders these days ? 5w30 or 5w40 ? What brands ?

5w30 mate, unless your beating on that M54 hard you wont really see the benfit of the 5w40. To be fair either oil will work, long as it branded.

Personally I like Fuchs Titan oil, 80k miles on that Z4 with 50+ track days real hard driving.

3 litre Z3 pretending to be Italian exotica. Two previous E89 Z4s.
I have 5w40 in my 3 litre M54, as this was recommended to me because of the 'age' of the engine.
I was advised that higher mileage engines do better with 5w40. Mine is only on 54k though.
I have an oil pressure gauge fitted and notice I have very high oil pressure when cold (around 70 psi). I put this down to having slightly thicker oil than normal. I may change to 5w30 this year and see what difference it makes.

I buy from Opie Oils. I have Millers in there at present.
