I am thinking about filler for the body. Hopefully just for the imperfections in the mouldings, but who knows?

Is 'gelcoat filler' the way to go, or for minor filling and sanding should I use plastic 'bumper' type filler?

I have some U-pol plastic X (6) but not sure if it is the right stuff to use!

Isopon P40 is a kind of gel with glass fibres mixed into it. It can be used to bridge holes gaps.

Isopon P38 is a paste used for filling grooves, dents but not holes.

I use P40 to bridge the hole, fill most of it to within a few mm of the surface and then skim with P38.

I mentioned Isopon because then there's no doubt about what I mean. In fact there's alternatives and halfords have a uPol fibre filler in a nice big tub much cheaper than isopon p40 and does the exact.same job.

If you're bridging a hole in grp don't forget to roughen up the edges to give the new filler something to grab on to.

Is this the one you were thinking of?

That looks like the smooth paste. Use that on the surface.

This is the fibre reinforced gap filler

I would add that I think the isopon might feel a bit thicker. Maybe more fibre in it. But I bought this big uPol 900ml tub from halfords so this is what I'm using. It feels softer than isopon so might sag on bigger holes. But then I'd say we should be doing big holes with proper mat and gel anyway.

Halfords don't do that one anymore (at least it's not on their website).
I am only talking of filler for imperfections and small bits, not holes. Any holes, hopefully none (!), will be addressed with glass (once I work out how to do it!)

Small imperfections then a paste like the one you showed.

But really tiny marks such as scratches and pin hole sized things then a high fill primer. Couple of coats with a rub between each one.
