SEQUIOA TREES114.jpg
I found an article with pictures that I had taken from a magazine recently. It was about a location in California that I wanted to take Hugh (@miller1098 ) to when he was with me picking up the ///M in San Diego. It was the area of Giant Sequoia trees. I had been there once and know it is absolutely something every person should see once in their lifetime. We had to go 3200 miles as it was and we were taking the southern route across the US as it was still March and we didn't want any trouble with snow. This meant to go up to see the trees and back to our southern route starting place would have added another 900 miles to the journey. Hugh had to be back in the UK by a certain date so we were limited since we had many other places to go as all you already know. I've scanned the article from the magazine. Hopefully you can read the dimensions of some of the trees just to get an idea of their size. To be there with them is a humbling experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![ The bark is three feet thick.ATTACH=full]20603[/ATTACH

One thing more. The BARK on this tree, or the 'skin' , not the wood inside is 3 feet thick.[/ATTACH]

This one of the things we are hoping to get to see when we can spend more time in the US. :)

Visited ~ 20 years ago - fantastic area - highly recommended. It's gained as many rings since then. You could stay in the log cabins at that time but I think that changed a few years later. You couldn't leave anything in your car at night as the bears would smash their way in.

BMG has the same trouble Colin. Seriously though it's a place we'd love to visit.

Been there and it is truly awesome to see! Had a bear take a blanket out of my car this week overnight, left me great big greasy muddy spot on the passenger side. It left the blanket off to the side of our drive in the bush. I think it wanted it for hibernating but it was too small!! Glad it didn't tear up my seats, JIM
