Could be right, just paid the same as last year on the 4x4, so perhaps it will filter through .Even paying the same is unusual, as it normally increases every year

It might be that people shopping around is having an influence on overall prices, not just car but other insurances as well.
When I get any insurance renewal quote through now I go on a comparison site for other quotes then ring my current insurer and ask if their renewal quote is their best price as lower prices are available.
Their first question is almost always `have you shopped around - what have you been quoted' when confirmed it's `can you hold while I check what we can do' followed by `the best we can do is £......... (reduced price)'. It's then a question of how close it is and whether it's worth the hassle of changing.

Renewal quotes now contain wording to the effect `you may be able to get cheaper elsewhere'.

Direct Line just tried pushing my Disco’s renewal up by 25% because they said the risk had gone up because of a few car crimes around us.
Phoned them just 9 hours before the old policy expired and they lopped off just £40 - I was sat there one button press away from agreeing a new policy elsewhere for £150 less for an identical policy, although, that was marginally higher than last years premium.

DL had already posted the new certificate to me but haven’t asked for it back yet.

Except to get the same when the axed policy runs out in Oct.

I struggled to get a renewal price similar to last year - the insurance company had started with a written renewal quote of £625 for two cars - I managed to get their price down to £475 (467 last year) - without losing breakdown cover - legal cover - no claims protection - etc.
