Always going to happen although they said when taking over all jobs were safe. Would help if they built a decent car of course.

I can not think of anyone who has bought a Vauxhall with their own cash in the last 20 years -----a few had them supplied as company cars , we in fact bought a few Astra's but replaced with other makes. The Movano was the worse van we ever used, in fact operatives did want to drive them due to being unreliable.

The amazing “your job is safe”. Small print... for 12 months...

I remember a certain company just outside of Coventry that got taken over and then moved slowly to close and run down the plant at Ryton.... the French will forever grab and run back home to mummy... the employment laws in France make it harder to lay people off too.

So how much more of our industry are we going to sell only for it to be closed due to labour costs and how easy it is to do.

hi tech manufacturing will always be in the UK.

But where factories and companies can move towards further automation and IIOT jobs will be lost. Manual processes that don't require skill will and should be replaced by automation and those humans redeployed into more value added jobs

the silver lining is that many companies are exploring the use of robots with humans to create even more efficient production lines. the problem right now is safety of the squishy humans next to the unsympathetic machines. however using AR and A.I some big big players are getting close (i witnessed some of the new stuff being used the other day)

this will in turn result in a slight uplift in jobs

Until the AI has learned all it can from a human and then they're surplus to requirements. Cyberdine is coming.
