I'm guessing so, although I always avoided that by moving house because they don't charge for that change

Well I suppose their argument for charging was always for the administration and reprinting of your licence. As it can all be done online now you are almost self administrating your licence details so that argument doesn't stack up anymore. They will probably save more anyway having it online and automated and not having to handle payments etc.

Jim, Good question mate.
Had a lady wanting a copy of her M.O.T. Cert as she had lost it in the last couple of weeks since her car was tested. Evidently her work requested to see it for some reason. But really I can't see why as you can print off from a gonernment web site if a car is taxed and tested. This should surely be enough proof?

And now that anyone can do it themselves the DMV has not only saved the cost of paper and ink, having passed that on to the consumer but have eliminated the time the person who used to prepare this copy at the DMV that they can effectively argue they no longer need that position. Another job gone, one more person looking for a job at McDonalds. JIM

I totally agree! Our bank had a rep telling all who entered that they could do most everything at the ATM in the lobby. She looked at me like I had three heads when I asked her what she was going to do at her next job? I told her there would be no need for tellers if we all used the machines and sure enough she was gone two weeks later. Automation is great to a point but we all pay in job loss, welfare numbers higher than ever, and computer glitches. JIM
