First, I found this tyre on 170bhp Golf on Monday, two others were almost as bad. Owner doubtful till he saw them:eek:.

Next day I fetched a Chevvy in for test (Daewoo Matiz). I pumped the servo out held pressure as I started the engine and the pedal crept down to the floor.:( This had happened

Some people are just born lucky I guess. Only where the clip scraped the pipe when the car was built has it corroded, the rest of the pipe was absolutely fine.

Then, on a lighter note, would you stroll into a tyre house and ask for a couple of these out loud?

Where do the Chinese dream up.these tyre names? This is the best yet, unless of course you know better . . . . . .

It never ceases to amaze me how people don't have their tyres checked once in a while, rather than just the once w year Mot.
And the government suggested extending to two years?
Disbelief at how stupid an idea that was, and your pics prove it Tony.

Here's another horror story. This is what the M failed on yesterday. I am suitably embarrassed.

Probably not I would suspect, just a very bad tyre.

When I first got my Z3 it had a Wangli on one side at the back. And a pair of Goodyears on the front with matching major repairs. Majors are fine on lorries, but for something with sporting pretensions? Some people, eh?

What’s with these split tyres cheap brands or under inflation?
And on the inside edges only too?

Good question, I'd like to know.

I bought a Fabia VRS many years ago, it had cheap tyres on the front that were nearly new so I decided to leave them on.

It wasn't long before I noticed some vibration that slowly got worse.

Thinking driveshaft or wheel weight missing I took it in to be shown by the fitter the outer layer of a tyre just peeling away showing the cords.

Lucky for me I decided to run the car for a bit rather than putting it straight on the forecourt and selling it to someone.

In my case it was not a cheap tyre but an old one that should have been scrapped years ago even though it looked good. At nearly 18 years old it has gone through way too many heat cycles and the rubber had gone hard and less flexible and grippy. When I took it out the day before test and gave it some hammer it was the last straw for the poor old thing and it started to break up. These type of cracks on a good tyre are normally down to under inflation but in this case it was old age and the sudden application of 320bhp. I consider myself very lucky not to have suffered serious damage to the car or even caused a nasty accident.

I found this on the outside of a tyre this week.

This was on a car you might expect to be kept in better order.

Meanwhile on a lighter note, I saw these. The first one brought back some memories,

And then another funny name for a tyre.
