Hello all,
This is my first post and thought I would say hi and post some pics of my Z3 which I picked up a week ago. Its a 1.9 Sport with M suspension and has covered just over 21K. I looked at a good many, mainly 2.2's but I just couldn't find one reasonably local that had a low mileage and was in good nick. This was one was at my local BMW dealer literally 500 yards away but overpriced at £11995 :shock: Dealer knocked another grand off so took the plunge, still overpriced but more reasured it has a full history and is BMW approved. My other car is a Corsa VXR so I wasn't really after a fast Z.

Only slight problem I have had so far is the fabric was lifting in one corner at the top of the rear screen, fixed using some Aradite Fabric glue. The rear screen has come up new using the special plastic polish for these type of screens. Car has now been clayed and carnauba waxed and engine bay cleaned. Cleaned a reproofed the hood yesterday using the Autoglym kit, however word of warning dont get the protective spray on the glass as once dry its a real job to remove.
Can anyone advise how to remove the gear knob as I would like to replace it, I guess it pulls off? The previous owner was a lady and the M sport gear knob has suffered ring damage to the leather :roll: All in all loving the car.

Hi All,
Thought I would post a few new piccies taken this afternoon. Had the Zed some 7 weeks now and really enjoying ownership Since my last pics have fitted the Chrome gills but no one told me how pesky the clip in recess by the bonnet hinge is to get at :head: lol. Have also fitted a pair of Welstar door handle covers, they look much better than I thought they would and at 23 quid can't complain. Just waiting for the chrome piece for the 3rd brake light. I'm thinking of chroming the interior out a little more as its quite dark when the hood is up..................
Future bits are a new stainless back box, maybe some new alloys but I'm likeing the originals at the moment so unsure.
If anyone knows where I can get a pair of genuine rubber floor mats please let me know, the red carpet overmats look OK but prefer the rubber ones.

Hi all,
As its finally mild but windy this morning I thought I would fit the chrome bits and pieces to the interior. Generally pleased with the result, not sure about the ones on the defroster vents as they sit a little proud. I took some piccies. sorry they are a little poor as it's quite hard to photograph to any great effect as it was actually sunny :shock:
I still haven't got around to changing the Sony head unit for one that will accept the iPhone :roll: mainly as I like the current one being silver and matching the dash. all the ones I have seen are black :x . Does anyone know of any in silver with an aux input that might be a better match?

Hi all,
Finally got around to fitting the armrest this weekend received from Justroadster, many thanks Simon . Fits a treat and goes well with the rest of the interior. Quality is spot on too and came with very thorough photographic fitting instructions. Surprised how comfortable it is having that extra rest and just the right height. A few pics,

Hi All,
Decided this morning as it was sunny for a change :roll: to fit the ZunSport lower grill I received the other week from Simon at JustRoadster. Many thanks Simon and for your kindness in supplying the dimensions etc :wink:
There are two types of lower grill made for the Zed dependant if its a 4cyl or 6 cyl model. The grill I have fitted is for a 1.9 facelift, 4cyl model.
Grill arrived nicely packaged with clear fitting instructions. It's made of stay bright stainless steel and of very high quality with a lifetime guarantee by ZunSport against corrosion, discolouration etc. You can buy either the stainless steel or a black version which is slightly more expensive. The grill is held it situ with 2 clips at the bottom which clip to the back of the bumper with the top part being held in place by the number plate holder.
On the 1.9 model there is actually no hole so to speak at the back of the aperture but is blanked off with a plastic plate held by rivets.
First job was to remove the number plate and holder. I realised that BMW fit anti theft fixings to hold the number plate so it took judicial use of the pliars to get the plastic off the number plate screws :roll:
With everything removed a good clean of the bumper
The grill is a reasonably tight fit and I was slightly worried that sods law would dictate the clips would fall exactly in line with the rivets holding the plastic aperture backplate. Luckily all was OK. It can be a little tricky at first to get the grill in situ but with a little trial and error it went into place. You need to hold the grill with one hand whilst with the other hand gently prize the aperture back plate back enough for one of the clips to snap behind the bumper. Then do the other clip. Once the grill is in place a slight adjustment left or right so it sits centrally in the aperture.
Once I was happy with the fitment just a case of refitting the number plate holder which clips back under the bumper and screws on and refitting the number plate with some some new fixings and job done

Have to say the quality is superb and nice and weighty, very pleased

Hi all,
Few piccies of the ACS knob fitted :lol: Well I seem to remember when I removed the original illuminated knob last Autumn it came off in a jiffy no probs. I fitted a chome and leather replacement and this was what I was trying to get off this morning and all I can say is I thought the gear box would come out with it and my arm is completely strained
Strange how a shorter knob feels better in action, shorter throw and smoother change

Hi all,
Just thought I would post some piccies of the Zeds new shoes fitted today :lol: Schnitzer Type III's 8.5x18 with 7mm spacers front and rear.
I had Event Tyres come and fit the alloys and new tyres Falken 452's 225/40 fronts and 255/35 rears. I only booked the tyre fitter yesterday afternoon and promptly turned up at 10am :lol: I was a little apprehensive about the alloys being damaged but needn't have worried. The fitter owns a 330i with Type III split rims fitted so was familiar with these wheels. All I can say is Event were completely professional and treated the alloys and Zed with care, impressed and can recommend them
Only done a few miles and doesn't seem to be any deterioration in ride quality, steering a little more direct with going from 7.5 to 8.5 rims on the front, feels more precise in the corners. All in all really pleased with the look and drive :lol:
Also would like to thank Jonttt :cheers for his help and advice on the spacers, tyres and the supplier, thanks Jon your a star :thumb:

Hi All,
Here finally for the impatient ones :geek: :lol: are the pics of the lip spolier fitted to Basil :lol:
First off was to clean off the layers of wax using Autoglym's Tar and Silicone remover and then wiping over with a damp micro towel and leaving to dry.
I placed the spoiler in position held in place with masking tape. You do need to be careful where its positioned as too high up the lid it passes over the creases that come out from the brake light. Too low down you run the risk of too much stress on the spoilers ends due the curve of the boot lid and possibly the ends of the spoiler springing up once stuck down. I errred on the side of caution and placed it a little higher so it just passed over the crease lines. I didn't really want to find the ends not adhering if I placed it too low down the lid as it curves quite sharply.
I used a length of masking tape as a guide to measure up from the bottom of the bootlid upto the spoiler for each end so it sat square on the lid.
I then used lengths of masking tape along the back edge of the spoiler so as make a hinge so the spoiler could be lifted up.
I did a few dry runs lowering the spoiler and back up again checking it was still lined up correctly. After removing the 3M backing tape I heated the spoiler gently with a hairdryer and carefully lowered it down and pressing firmly from the middle outwards whilst warming with the hairdryer.
Finally wax the spoiler and bootlid and take some more pics :lol:
I know it won't be to everyone's taste but I'm really pleased with the results, colour match and quality.

Hi all,
As it was nice sunny day I thought I would give the hood a re-proof :lol: I had previously used the Autoglym kit 2 years ago for which the proofer has lasted really well, albeit the Zed isn't used so much in the winter :roll:
Anyways I decided to give the Renevo Ultra Proofer a whirl and paint it on as opposed to using the bottle spray which frankly just goes everywhere. I did think of re-dying the hood first but there are only a few minor rub marks to not make it worthwhile at the moment. The hood had been thoroughly shampooed and cleaned and allowed to dry beforehand.
I used some old dust sheets and put newspaper over the rear screen and had the windows down with newpaper draped over the tops of the doors.
Condition of hood prior to re-proofing
I used an old clean washing up bowl to pour the proofer into which was handy to rest ontop on the doors and to catch any drips along with a 50mm paintbrush.
Starting in the centre of the hood I worked towards me and diagnally following the line of fabric twill. Make sure you don't load too much proofer on the brush and found dragging the brush the best method to avoid flicking the proofer everywhere :lol:
Its a little daunting at first as the hood readily soaks up the proofer but once you get going it gets easier. I would say its nowhere near as easy as using the spray however you can far more accurate and able to get the proofer to the edges of the hood far easier.
End results, the hood looks a little better and more uniform in colour.
Total time was around 75 mins whereas using the spray would be around 10 mins. Will definitely use this method in future and no proofer all over the rest of the Zed :lol:
Just need some rain now :shock: :lol:

The ACS floor mats finally arrived last week :lol: Unfortunately ACS UK don't have these in stock for the Z3 so have to be made to order which takes around 6 weeks
They're top quality and compliment the other ACS bits nicely I gave up in the hope a set might turn up on e-bay

Popped to my local dealer today to pick up a bottle of Nano Wax to do the Zed as its :sunny and spotted a shorty aerial on the parts desk shelf so thought I would get one for the 1 Series. Was surprised it was a poor fit so tried it on the Zed and it fitted a treat , looks similar to the Honda aerial some have fitted. Anyways a few pics after giving the Zed the once over :lol:

Finally got around to fitting the Becker today which replaces the Sony unit that came with the Zed :lol:
Just wanted to thank Gary (Gazhyde) for the loan of the Sony removal tools, thanks alot Gary :thumb: Jonttt regarding fitting and Titan (Terry) for the part no for the screw head caps.
Prior to fitting I removed the two radio fuses. Apart from removing the Sony mounting sleeve which was a pain in the ar$e, fitting was a doddle and ran the Becker ipod connection through to the glovebox and the Sat Nav and mic cables the same route with the Nav receiver parked in dash corner. Only problem I had was one of the glovebox latch clips broke luckily I had a spare knocking round. Doing the wiring for the GAL was much easier than I anticipated thanks to a previous how too on here. The mic cable was run up behind the passenger windcreen pillar trim and across the top of the screen and attached next to the rearview mirror.
I was always dissapointed with the Sony unit, no matter how much I played with the equaliser, bass, treble etc the sound quality was always thin and lifeless, plus being an older model I couldn't connect an ipod/iphone. I know many have swapped the standard speakers out and did wonder if it was these that were just poor.
Anyways as soon as the becker was fired up all I can say is what a revelation, after a little tweaking the sound quality and depth is simply superb, well pleased :lol:
I was worried the Becker wouldn't match the dash as well as the Sony as the Sony had a silver finish however I'm not dissapointed in the end result. I know the Beckers are expensive but have to say I'm glad I went for one now.

Hi all,
After re-proofing the hood last September with Renevo hood proofer and being dissapointed in its protective properties I decided to give Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric a go, applied it today which with it being a spray rather than painting the proofer on as with the Renevo was so much easier.
There is a great video on the link below showing how well this stuff works on a fabric hood.........well I'm hoping it does :lol:

Hello all,
This is my first post and thought I would say hi and post some pics of my Z3 which I picked up a week ago. Its a 1.9 Sport with M suspension and has covered just over 21K. Hi All,
