I liked it. It showed how they need to interview more vets and more often. The number of WW2 people is very sadly dwindling.

Was good to get a glimpse of the characters flying the Vulcan and the Harrier in the south Atlantic. We need more of this. And less talk of the spitfire. Great plane and all that but there are others

The Lysander section was interesting - ugly beast but did its job

@DaveP I loved the Lysander, more like the ford escort of the aircraft world, understated but did a good job in the worst of conditions. The spitfire is the icon even though the hurricane shot down more during the Battle of Britian. Must admit though I do love the sound of a spitfire flying overhead, something majestic about it.

We could have been the best in the world if the TSR project had not been scraped too.

You mean Andy we sold out the development and then paid through the nose to get it back. After WW2 the USA were way behind us on technology regarding the jet engine and aircraft design. They used German development and British design through the backdoor. We were sold a pup.

We still produce some amazing designs but we don’t have the funds to take it forward. Pity as we could lead the world. The Typhoon is an amazing plane as was the Tornado. The V bombers were ahead of their time too. Look at the shape of the B2. Funny that. Rant over.

Hate to say it lads, but the UK would have been "Royally Shafted" had the Yanks not got involved in WWll.
They did not want to at the start, lucky for Europe that the Japs bombed the crap out of Pearl Harbor.

Yep but we paid the debt right up to the time Maggie Thacher was in power. So I think we paid it back.

We were 'coerced' into buying the McDonnell-Douglas Phantom, good kite but no TSR2 (no relation)
Phantom. The fighter equivalent of a TVR :)

Lots of grunt although a bit challenged in the beauty stakes.

Never seen a Phantom display - probably won’t now...

They were the A10, the so called "Tank Buster" in the Gulf wars? The sound they made even on recordings was astounding.

That cannon on the front Tony... just amazing.. the pilots sit in a titanium bath as its designed to be shot at. Hence the engines being high up at the back. One of my fav planes too @hard top

Just see the mess it makes here.. got to love that sound..

I suppose that's debatable, depending on your stand point;)=)). Surely would get your attention Paul.
