A few miles from home where our "local" post office now resides the road has some horrendous Pot holes. Here's the result. New one fitted on Shirl's Eos this afternoon, I'll get the bill tomorrow. Luckily it was a rear one which does make fitting simpler.

As luck would have it, it broke in the middle but by chance the two ends jammed together and didn't let the car sit right down.

Tony.

Try the roads around Corby Tony, they're like Beirut high street. One of the reasons I drive cross country to work now is to avoid the viscous speed humps in Uppingham and elsewhere, those impacts twice a day 5 days a week is certainly going to break something. Crawl over them and you end up with a van in your boot  A farmer near me went over a hump (full width) in his nearly new tractor and it split it in two, literally, he claimed from the council and got nothing, all they did was remove the hump. Roads aren't fit for purpose, sunken ironworks another problem.

Looks like it was cracked a good distance across though Tony. Isn't there old corrosion across much of the fracture point?
Straw that broke the camels back?

Been broken about a week Ian so hard to say. But if it wasn't that pothole it was another.

I had a mysterious broken spring after less than 500 very careful miles....its a disgrace & encourages those anti social street artists too.

Not only are the road surfaces in a terrible state they are overcrowded it took me 1 hour to do five miles last night my Zed never got overheated in that hour just a smidge over half on the gauge ever after and hour sat in traffic.

No potholes in Japan either, wonderful roads out there and the amount of traffic was huge, never even saw a patched area - Fantastic! Come back home and they are on every bloody road and like patch work quilts. I did see alot more than the road surfaces but it was so obvious

I'm not sure they use the best materials in the first place & then they do cheap patches that dont last more than a couple of weeks.
were does all our road tax money go !

Into the big pot to pay for the likes of the NHS, as it's needed to cure the bad backs and bumped heads caused by road humps.

I meet more potholes in a short local drive than in the whole of last years Euro trip.

Last time on the NF run we had a rental, told my mate Rob, for Christ sake don't hit any potholes or we will get charged for damaged wheels.

You should see the speed bumps around here, they spend more time mending them than the roads.

Funny enough the worse hole I have ever experienced was on the Euro run, it was a trench across the road where the car disappeared down and back up... lucky enough nobody had any blowouts.

@mwpe Going through College Town is like an off road 4 x 4 course.
