After re-insuring my Z3 with BeWiser insurance for the 2nd year let me first state I really do like their service and I'm really happy with cost......... but why oh why do they have to send me this monstrosity of a tax disc holder, which by the way will be redundant after September this year, it frightened my grandson on Sunday.:eek:I received one last year, I think I filed it. What do you get?

Anyway I've got to M.O.T. it tomorrow so I couldn't be doing with that thing I don't think there is anywhere I could put it where it wouldn't be in the swept area obstructing the view to the front.

Were they real screws Gaz? I had a similar one a few years ago in my A4 but I struggled with the tiny screws which held it together.

They were pukka Richbrook aluminium holders. These were screw fit if I recall...

What about a new use for them, combined with Frankie's ID badges? I'd be up for one. Would be handy at meets?

Its all down to your car registration and they know where to find you.

Thought as much. They haven't needed them here either for years Mike as the cops have cameras which can read you reg no before you see them and they can still stop your if road Tax, mot or insurance is invalid. Aren't computers great? They have a tranny van which sits on the road into Lincoln which I use at various times of the day checking for road tax violators. it's not there for long before everyone warns each other re speed but there isn't much you can do if you are out of tax, mot, ins, etc.

Are you allowed to MOT your own car Tony?
Absolutely...... Why not? I test my cars(2), my wifes car, my son's van and my daughter and son-in-law's car too. It's the only way I am totally satisfied that they are good.We had 2 guys came to work at our's a few years ago from Halfords where they were told that you could not. Crap Mr Halford. If I'm not trustworthy to test my own car, I'm not trustworthy to test anyone's.
Sorry for the rant mate, sore point with me.;)

Whoops, sorry Tony, didn't mean to wind you up.

I only mentioned it as when I had mine done at Halfords last year I overheard the sort of conversation you described. Perhaps it's a Halfords policy thingy rather than the law.

My uncle used to do my cars and I wish he still had the MOT place as I knew they were spot on, if anything was wrong at all then I knew about it. I don't think you would let your family run round in cars that could end up killing them, or someone else (thought I better add the someone else as some families have history :D )

Honestly mate no worries.I think you are spot on it is a Halfords policy, which is a bit rich when you have worked with three (now) of their cast offs and you realise how these guys are programmed to rip people off. It just goes against the grain with me. When I worked for myself I would rather have lost money than rob someone.:)

I used to work at an independent MOT station and garage in LIncoln and I hadn't been there that long and the owner trusted me to test my wifes car. At the end of the day I thanked him for showing the trust in me to allow me to do it. He said" Well mate it is you wifes car after all............" He was a good boss!!!:)

We need a safety certificate to insure and licence our cars here. For $25 I can get the safety without anyone looking at my car. I don't, but lots do! How safe is that?? JIM
