His folks, hope everyones well. Apologies, I know I only recently posted. but I'm in a position that I could do with being told if I’ve made a bad decision & it’s not doable?

So basically I just asked a seller who has really nice rear bumper & facelift boot, can I swap my older squarer lights for the facelift one he has. He obviously sink the fully clued up like myself as well. But he said, people do it so he doesn’t see why not. So I went for it & I’ve just purchased the facelift Tailights along with the facelift boot lid & bumper.

My question is. Is it possible to swap out my older story more rectangular rear lights for the newer facelift lights? I said to him yesterday can I get the rear panel with all the bayonet light fixtures but I‘m not clear on if he’s bringing them.

I just want to ask is this job possible or how complicated it is & what parts from the donor car do I need for this job to be successful?

Thanks folks! Have a great day! Cheers man!

I think you're gonna need rear wings outer and inner and that rear panel where your number plate mounts on. and. and.

But then - why oh why would you want to?

Your pre-facelift Z is a classic. Not like those new fangle post facelifts that might be classics - one day.

Pre-Facelift are a dying rarer breed. Be proud of the fact you've got one. Don't try to hide it.

But if you're determined to do it from a donor car. Go find a good donor.

Then keep the donor and sell your oldie to somebody else.

Hi my friend, didn’t look on it like that! Sadly I already purchased the bonnet & bumper :( My way of thinking might be off, but I saw that instead of spraying the whole car it looks infinitely cheaper to just buy each panel on eBay in the colour I’d like. Someone decided to trash my Z interior & they jumped all over my bonnet! It’s my fault, I left the roof down in a safe area? & fell asleep, I woke & rushed out to put the roof up & it was in a really bad way I’m gutted!

As a result I looked for a bonnet in eBay & found a showroom bonnet in Cosmos Black! When I put it on finally after some weeks, man it’s quite startling how good It looks. So I set about getting the other panels & for now just found a hardtop & I just purchase a bumper but the one with the shorter number plate & the Facelift boot lid all in Cosmos Black & in good nick!

It didn’t even cross my mind that mine was even more desirable! I thought everyone wanted the newer look. I prefer the original wide body arches instead of the humps at the back from the facelift, so I was going to source them next & the doors in Cosmos Black & I’d be done my car would all be in Cosmos Black Which I’ve looked online & they look really nice.

I had Atlanta Blue and loved it but the new Bonnet in C Black was refreshing so I’ve been sourcing each part slowly. I also am about to get a C Black Hardtop & Fit Kit but he wants to do it out of eBay so a bit cautious.

In all honesty my other insensitive for the modern behind was. Once I had all black panels I was going to get my Z wrapped in a design. I didn’t want to do a wrap and underneath was an assortment of different coloured panels, my ocd side I guess :)

But yeh I wanted to do something really unique, really car like & I think it would look amazing but I know not everyone has the same taste!

But anyways, thanks for your input my friend. Excuse the long response, just thought to explain things fully. But all the best mate, thanks for your time!

Sorry mate, just to ask. If I did go down this line. I would number one now keep my rear as a direct result from your kind input & I feel what you’re saying. But if I did try to swap. What do I need to ask the seller for. Do I just need the rear panel with all the bayonet fittings on & just solder Them into mine or does he need to give me the cabling leading to the rear lights also?

Thanks for your time! Sincerely.

Adrian
