Every year in early January I organise a Scalextric Swapmeet in Swindon at the Oasis Leisure Centre. This year's event is Sunday 7 January 2018 - next Sunday as I'm writing this.
It's the largest swapmeet of its kind in the UK/Europe with 70+ sales stalls and several circuits.
There's something for everyone with an interest in Scalextric, this is definitely not an enthusiast only event. In fact most of our visitors are parents/kids who enjoy racing together and are spending their Christmas money on an extra car etc.
There's a huge variety of stuff on sale from 1960s collectables to new releases at discount prices. No need to pay retail price of £40 for a car at Swindon, you will find plenty of recent releases for as little as £20 and most usually £25-£30.
Also plenty of track to expand your circuits. As well as specialists selling hand-made scenery and buildings. And hard to find spares. My own stall (well the kids do the spares actually) always has a large selection of spares.
Z3s will be thin on the ground. These were made by Cartrix quite a few years ago now but you might find 1 or 2. Z4s should be plentiful as they are a current model from Scalextric and available in various different liveries including 2 or 3 releases in the last few weeks. No Z1s or Z8s ever made as a slot car although you may find a kit to convert.
Entrance from 10.30am. Adults £2.50 and accompanied children under-16 £1. Plenty of free parking.
Come and discover 1 of only 3 attractions that's not totally boring about Swindon 1) The Magic Roundabout 2) The GWR railway museum 3) the swapmeet. Well I guess if you like shopping 4) the outlet village in the old railway works. 3) and 4) are just 10 minutes walk from the swapmeet by the way.
And I guess 5) mrscalex's collection of Z3s and spare parts
