Not because it needs it but because I want to look through the wheels and at the suspension and see it as new.
No rust or dirty bits.

What bits do I need please?

Shocks

Springs

Etc.

Preferably in black not mixed colours please.

One of the things which looks really bad on my shed is the brake shield plate things. Looked really bad with rust on mine when I changed the discs on the rear.

Guess that if you are doing the shocks, it might be worth doing the top mounts as well while you are in there.

Did this to mine back end of last year Mark and fitted almost as new S54 suspension which if you want to keep it OEM I would recommend as the S54 shock/springs are slightly uprated giving a better feel.

Have you had a look at DaveP's thread over on the MCoupe forum where he is systematically refreshing everything on his car, certainly worth a read.

If there is nothing wrong with them why not pull them off, give the dampers. Lick of paint and get the springs striped and re powder coated?
