What is your desired outcome?
  • Standard suspension but with new OE type shocks to get the car back to original?
  • A firmer suspension for sporty drives?
  • To include lowering the ride in the project?
  • A really stiff/firm suspension for Auto-X or racing and never mind about a harsh ride on the streets?

I have lowering springs with standard shocks on the car at the moment but the ride is horrendous it's like a boat.

Ok, that's what you have got and you don't like it. What is your desired outcome?

I like the way it looks on lowering springs I just wondering what's the best shocks to buy to go with the springs as the way it is it doesn't drive nice at all..

Best chance is it’s the shockers which are worn out, probably the originals on the car from new. A set of new shocks will most likely work with the lowering springs and restore the handling. I fitted a set of Eibach springs on my E85 Z4 using the original shockers (which had done only 18,000 from new) it still handles like dream.

Change the shockers. Monroe or original Sachs.

Eibach B12 sport kit. Fantastic set up just fitted to my e89. @Ianmc has fitted it to his 1.9 recently and approves.
