Well thought I'd bite the bullet and have a go (@Sean d don't read any further )

So rubbed down, sprayed with filler primer, and no runs :)

Tomorrow flat back, top coat and clear and then Sunday afternoon more flatting then a good polish.
If it turns out OK and good enough to go on Willow I'll post some more pics, if not this the last you will hear of it and I'll sent it to my mate to be done again with some degree of talent :D

chicken.... should have tried a bonnet first
Ummmm NO, small steps  the front wing is small enough to manage for a first attempt. anything bigger would show my true skills, mind you the wing has equal potential to do the same  Plus I'm willing not stupid :D I cant help remembering the time I decided I could plaster my hall stairs and landing .... That didn't go well  =))

One tip I would offer, as a none painter by the way, would be, when you have it flatted and ready lay it flat before applying the paint. Above all allow plenty of drying time between coats, have patience. Good luck Niall, hope it comes out good mate.

Tony.

Well I'm bloody chuffed with that result! Now I know it wont be as good as a professional job but once the clear coat is flatted back and polished I reckon it will be passable :) And the colour match seems quite good but will only really tell once its on the car.

Looks great. Need my sills and lower panel doing, even have the paint ready but getting cold feet.
