Time for an update on our spotting activity down under.
In Napier we visited Peter @Dobiwallah and his wife Kitty. Peter has done loads of work on his car and has the true Z3 passion (he also has a collection of Simcas which may test his mechanical skills a litle more).
In Wellington we spotted a couple more Z3s and a Z4, all on road. One Z3 was Pre facelift wide body the other post facelift.
Today on the South Island we stopped of for coffee at the Waipara Hills winery (itwas only 10:00am and spotted this......

The car (2.0 post) belongs to Jude Hart who is Cellar Manager. Gave her details of the forum and encouraged her to have look.
So, if you take a look Jude, hello again from me!
Heading to Mount Cook next, and then more sea and mountains, with eyes peeled ready for the next Zed.

@roadvoyager1 Well the shaky Islands (New Zealand) have been true to there name since midnight (now 3:20pm) with over 200 magnitude >4 quakes, a 6.3 and a 7.2. Thankfully only two reported deaths so far. If you get caught up in delays etc and need help, give me a call on 021 053 6070. I'm located in Timaru, east coast South Island, below the rumble line.

Cheers

Murray

Thanks for your thoughts and offer of help @Murray Wall. We knew nothing about it until FB messages started coming in asking if we were alright. We are in Dunedin well away from the problems and heading west to Te Anau next. Unfortunately we have already passed your location and do not travel that way again, it would have been good if we could have met and said hello. We. are due to return to Christchurch towards the end of November and are keeping our eyes on the news.
Our thoughts go out to the people of Wellington who have had a rough time with the quake and are now facing overnight winds of 85mph.
Back on topic we spotted a silver Z3 earlier today on SH1 whilst we were heading to Dunedin.

Latest spotting is a pre-facelift 4 pot seen in Queenstown (NZ) and parked in a driveway outside a house in Arrowtown. Aqua blue wirh a black hood, lady driver.
A sunny day for us, which was brilliant, back home ice and snow prevail. Brrrrrrr.
Next stop is Franz Joseph Glacier. Maybe we will see another Zee!!!

Great story thanks for sharing, please keep us posted. Your first post was interesting, I used to work on Simcas years ago @Dobiwallah. Do you have a Bagheera in your collection?

Tony.

Nah, the Bagheera was to new for me. When I lived in Holland, I had a couple of 1501's, a 1501 station wagon, An Aronde Oceane, Aronde Artisinale, Simca-Matra Rancho, a 1100 Fourgonette and a couple of donor simcas. I even had something completely different, a Bedford CA dormobile, a nice cute van.

In new Zealand a friend gave me a 1958 Aronde 1300Deluxe. I have disassembled the engine, but can't find the time to work on it at the moment. http://oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/51413-simcaclubs-1958-simca-aronde-deluxe-1300/?hl=simca My son has a 1501 stationwagon, it's the green one on google.

But sorry, bit off topic.

The Earthquake on the South Island woke us up at midnight (we live on the North island, can you imagine!). Our house was slowly busy with shaking. Normally if this happens, you wait for 8 seconds, and go back to sleep. This one kept going on and on, so we hastily evacuated the house. Our pool looked like a wave pool and lost 10cm of water. Of Course this is nothing compared with what the people of Kaikouro had to endure.

Thanks for taking the time to visit us, roadvoyager1!

Possibly the final update for this trip as we fly out on Monday to Singapore.
Friday driving into Christchurch from Arthurs Pass spotted a black facelift Z3 alongside the road. In the city near Cathedral Square saw two aqua blue Z3s within 10 minutes (may have been the same one but I am counting it a two). Drove out to the coast on Saturday and spotted a nice looking very shiny black 3.0ltr in Sumner; later a not so shiny silver facelift heading back to the city. Both had hoods down as it is a warm and sunny spring day here, albeit somewhat windy.
So 5 in 2 days is pretty good in my book and there were a few Z4s along the way.
Also called into a Classic car restorer; will post some pictures later.

Well I thought it was all over, but last night spotted a silver facelift 3.0 and on way to airport this morning a silver pre-facelift 4 potter. Both around Cathedral Square.
That's it all done. The Z3 scene in NZ certainly seems to to be alive and kicking eveni f only a select few have discovered Z.org.
