Thought I would check on my spare wheel, give it a clean and check the pressure.
I reckon I must be the first person in 22 years to have removed it from the car !
Definitely past its use by date. As a new owner I checked mine at 12 years old and it was just surface rust so salvageable. Lots of people bin them and carry a tyre weld kit. I kept mine and bought a kit.
A lot if zed 3 spare wheels out there will look pretty similar to that and like you say a fair number will also not have seen the light of day for a long time.
You will find majority of them will be fitted with a space saver tyre which is now either side of 2 decades old .
I replaced the tyre inflation/weld kit out of my Insignia with a new spare wheel and tool kit as I prefer the spare wheel option.
For now I will use that in the Zed, until I can source a decent spare.
For now the spare doubles as a plant pot standjust hoping the plant pot isn't too heavy !!
