Edit.
20th May 2024.
As of the 1st of June 2024 i will be opening this run up to anyone who would like to attend if you would like to attend please get in touch and i will sort it out as i would like this run full and need to look at getting hotel sorted soon so need to know final numbers.
This will be a great run at this time of year as all the heather should be out which gives a totally different perspective of the routes we will be doing also looking to get a hotel near the beach as some really first class sunsets in summer months.

Hi everyone welcome to the Scottish Summer Heather run 24 i have edited the title and removed other limitations originally had so now this run open to all if you would like to come please ask .

Dates are now confirmed as Sat 17th and Sun 18th August

The run will be based from Ayr and probably will be similar to the 2017 run which i based in Ayr taking in the Galloway forest and south west coast.

At the moment I will put this post up if the interest is there then will go ahead and put it all together.
I have asked @Mint If Dave and Pauline would like to come along and run sweeper at rear of group and he has kindly said yes so be great to have their experience along for this run .

Stephen.

1. @Stevo7682 @Mrs Stevo
2. @Nodzed
3. @Pauliebhoy

4. @peacheyZ3
5. @andyglym
6. @Mint @Mrs Mint

Reserve list
1.
2.

So these are the potential 2 routes i would be doing over the 2 days taking in the Galloway forest park and southern uplands and taking in a bit of the west coast which doing the run in August should allow the heather to be in bloom and hopefully if decent weather provide some really nice views across the Clyde coast.

Hi Steve,

I'll check out those dates ...

Your are just down the road from me ..... Airdrie.

Smashing routes for a run.
Did both a few years back in my old kit car.

Hi Stevo.....I'd be interested, and my preference would be the Whithorn route having never visited that way before ;-)

Hi again Stephen....thanks. Yes, I hadn't read the whole thread but can confirm I'm ok for both days. Hopefully there's more take-up and can look forward to my first run. I noticed too there's a car show in Bo'ness coming soon, just across the water from me, which I'm looking to attend. I'll maybe see you there and get the chance to meet some of you there

Hi @Omar
This particular run is the same thing that i do in April and September those runs fill quickly as very popular.
Doesn't give newer members an opportunity to join so i put this event together and made the criteria that you had not been on a previous Scottish run ( so any member new on on here for a bit ) .

The format for these events is all pretty much the same different routes and hotels but overall what we do is the same.

So for this event i have the routes posted further up

It would go like the this you would put your name down ( while still space)
I would generally find a hotel that would take our group then i would post details of how to book it ( usually on a separate pm thread )
You would book Friday, Saturday and Sunday ( leave Monday morning)
We would gather at the hotel on Friday usually a bit of socialising and introductions on the Friday evening.

Saturday morning after breakfast we would leave ( as a group led by me)
The day run out would generally be split into 4 so leave hotel hour or so drive then coffee break ( usually 45min or so)
Then another hour or so drive then lunch stop ( usually an hour or so) then off again for another hour or so then stop for afternoon stop ( 45min) then final run back to hotel again usually an hour or so ( runs are generally around 160-180 miles a day) then dinner at hotel Saturday night
Sunday is same set up but different routes and stops.
Hope this helps if you think that thus is for you adk me and i will put your name on the list .
Stephen.
