Just took my little z on nice road trip from SC to Washington DC and New York City! Around 1500 Miles total. I have taken it to the Flordia Keys several times as well. Usually 16-1700 Miles..Which sparked a question. How many of you choose the Z as your road trip car and how far do you guys take them from home? Granted mine is far from stock with Bilstein Sports Dampers, H&R Springs, 3.73lsd, Race Seat, Harness, Etc etc its still my go to road car over the wifes 335i for road trips!

Hi Kevin, I would love to have a Z in our garage in Kissimmee, Fla. We visit for 3 weeks, two times during the year and I see a few around the Orlando area. Have spotted some down the Keys and also in St. Augustine ( a wonderful place to visit). Unfortunately, as our house is for vacation rental the garage is now a games room.:(:(

Tony.

ps. To do those sort of miles on our little Island would mean that we would be for ever driving,..................... now there's an idea.:):):)
But mine is my daily use car so at least I get to drive it every day.;)

Think it would take a few weeks to get to Greece :p
But wouldn't have enough space in boot for all our items we need to bring :)

I have just done a 2400 mile trip to Italy and last year did 1800 to Munich. The Zed is the most comfortable long distance car I have ever had,:thumbsup:

I love to see people actually drive their z's!
Kevin, I couldn't help but look back over the trip that @miller1098 and I had earlier in the year and was laughing at this:
@miller1098 :
  1. Still thinking about my trip.some of the things that make you a little nervous ,flying ,remember your passport ,drive on the wrong site of the road, rush hour traffic ,standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon ,being arrested in a foreign country, and quite a lot of others ,but I can honestly say that the most scarey thing is this.............

Hi Kevin,
You have a very faithful Zed: the 1.9:thumbsup:
Like me.:D
As long as I still have money in my pocket for gasoline, I wouldn't stop the engine!
But just in touristic purposes...!
Maybe one of the "great run from home" was: Romania- North Italy- South of France (Provence) and back....around 10.000 km.
A good friend of mine use to say: "the best maintenance for a car is to keep it in operation more as possible!"
So , keep it running and enjoy every moment like we do, here on this forum!:)

My rear end gets sore after a couple of hours driving in the Z, so fairly short road trips for me so far - any ideas for making the driving position more comfortable would be welcomed!

Yeah David: you can find in furniture stores, a pillow with some sort of small synthetic balls , which will make your trip very agreeable!

My seat set up is a Corbeau Clubman with the addition of lots of fabric store 1" foam padding. Its Fixed back but i added the "seat tilt mod" to make it more comfortable. Harnesses are to keep me in place for the Track days I do monthly. I run a z3M shift lever (Extremely Short) and a custom handle. 3.73 lsd diff swap. Beer Keg intake with a K&N filter. Bilstein Sport (Yellow) Mono tube dampers. H&R Lowering Springs. M-Contour Wheels from a 96 M3 and Continental DWS 06 Tires. This is the ideal set up for Long distance cruises and then having a little fun while you're there Via. Autox or track day.

Being in Canada NE of Winnipeg and a rural area every trip is a road trip for me that isn't local. It's a 250km round trip to Winnipeg and as cities and towns are even more spread out than the USA a trip to visit my Mother and Sister in Alberta is a 16hr drive one way. So road trips it is for me!!
