2.30am.
The dog is growling.
Mrs RGF looks out and sees the security light on and utters those infamous words " Quick! There is someone messing with your car!"
I dash out to find the doors of my Jag slightly ajar. No damage done but my satnav and a coat have gone. My Who double cd is still there, phew.
I go back inside to get the keys to lock it up again...but no keys. Then the penny drops that they have broken into the house, lifted the keys and let themselves into the car....but at least they haven't taken it. Nothing else taken from the house either. In many ways I have been lucky.
This is not the first such story on here and gives us all a reminder about key security.
I have to say that the insurance companies have been brilliant. I phoned the house insurance at 4.00am and within half an hour a locksmith was on the phone wanting to come to change the house door locks.
I phoned the car insurer (LV) later in the day (after CSI had lifted fingerprints etc) and again, within half an hour a recovery truck was there to take my car away to a secure place in readiness for changing all the locks etc.
So there you are folks, another salutary tale and a reminder for you all.
For those of you with good memories you will recall that this is not my first story about keys, but we'll let that one rest!
