So here's the re-trimmed steering wheel from Royal Steering Wheels.

As it was...

New one fitted...

Workmanship really is first class...

I went for perforated at the sides and soft nappa top and bottom.

As others have said, this really is one of the best mods you can do. Reasonable asking price of £110 and takes minutes to swap over.

I opted for double thickness and would recomend others do the same, unless you have tiny hands. :)

Hi Maurice, I should have clarified, there's no need to be without. He takes your details, confirms he has a spare perfect condition standard steering wheel yo match your car, you pay an extra £50 as a deposit, then pay him a total of £160 via Paypal and he sends you the re-trimmed wheel in advance of you returning your orginal wheel in the packaging he sent you. He then refunds your £50. Never does the Z need be off the road.

Hi Topperz, excellent interior. If you wanted to keep your wheel insert, then I'm sure he would send you a wheel whilst you had yours re-trimmed.

Hi Mini,

Changed it over myself, straight into it with a required deep socket. Didn't bother to read up on any instructions either. It's that simple !

The only thing you need to be mindful of is remembering to disconnect the battery. No more than a 15 minute job.

16mm was the only deep socket I didn't have, so I had to go buy one, if you don't have one, PM me your address and I'll send you it in the post.

I had the luxury of Jack from Royal fitting it for me when I first bought mine, as he lived 10 minutes from where I worked at the time. When I sold my silver 2.0 I swapped the wheel over to my new one all on my own without breaking or exploding anything!

As Lexy says, just make sure you disconnect the battery when playing with the airbag! Otherwise it's a couple of screws and the big nut that holds it in place.

Also very worthwhile making sure your front wheels are pointing straight, and that your steering wheel is level when taking it off - allows you to make sure you put the new on straight!

Which reminds me, when I bought Jet2 last year the steering wheel was slightly off so the upgrade benefits' were twofold !
