Thinking about it, I remember the Vauxhall so called "lifetime warranty"

Don't think they offer that anymore. But from memory I think Vauxhall capped it to 7 years, anyone remember?

I quizzed a Vauxhall salesman about it, and he said that 7 years was the expected life of the car.

I'm not sure whether that was the official line.

I have run 2 renualts both Safranes, and they were very good motors , not very quick but extremely comfortable and reliable. The first one got wrote off when a BMW e34 came through red lights ,hit side of me on drivers side and pushed me 4 metres up the road,I opened the badly bent door and walked out. Both the roof and floor panel had a crease.

Given so many people lease or believe a Car is scrap after 3yrs this probably won’t be a big deal.

It’s a bad time I think to be doing it though as the Kia’s and Hyundai’s are starting to look really good these days, some look like evoques.
They have long warranties I believe, big issue was they looked ugly but now they look good could be an issue...

This was back about 20 years ago , after the second Safrane I got my first e39 [525d] and have had at least one BMW on drive ever since.
The e34 was badly damaged at the front , the incident occured at 04.30hrs in Birmingham, the first I heard was the "music" coming from his car. He was found to be under the influence but never got to court , he never turned and went missing.

I just had heavy bruises down by Right side , thanks

The interest bit was a few month later my Plant Manager had a call from a Motor fraud company asking about detailed damaged to the car, he explained we had a very good set of photos.Next day he arrived to inspect and take the photos [ we had printed a second set him gave him the negs--remember those] and he explained what had occured

1---- I wrote car off
2-- -Car was repaired and retaxed ,and insured
3----Car was stolen
4----While stolen it slid of a corner , hit a tree ,went on fire and burnt out.
5--- the damage to the drivers door , roof and floor after the fire was identical to the damage when I was hit.

Seems the insurers did not acept the claim , Wonder Why.
