This should be a 'safe for work' question as it relates to the Zed and not a young lady. ;)
Just had my combined Saga insurance/breakdown cover renewal through and been informed that European breakdown can no longer be offered as car is over 17years old. :(
A quick trawl through internet indicates the main players will either, not cover over 16 years old, or want £200 + for single trip to Zone 2 (which includes Italy and Spain). Have found one at £56 single trip but no idea on the company reputation/ reliability.
Have any `late teen' Euro trippers found anything better?

I have always used Green Flag, good rates and good cover, I was quoted £200+ for mine from the AA (because of the age of the car), Green flag done it for around £80

Thanks Jim - hope all OK with you.
I had Green Flag on a previous insurance and their service was great but when I tried Green Flag on-line quote this time they declined - I may give them a call and see whether I can get any further.
AA quote was £251 - RAC £214 - Compare breakdown £228 - Moneysupermarket - non available!

That's a good rate Hugh - was it mate's rate;).
I'll check them out but I note your car is the right side of the 16 year barrier most of them seem to apply. Mine's just gone over it and that makes the difference.

Just checked NFU on-line - they do not do a standalone breakdown it has to be an add-on to car insurance with either GreenFlag or RAC. Green Flag don't cover over 16 years old - RAC appear to bump rate up when over 10.

Hi Moz -
Thanks - making enquires at the moment on that basis. Changed to Saga 2 years ago because it was a very good deal compared to previous insurer. Situation now changed a bit as I had to claim last July when some **** hit the zed in a car park.
cheers
Colin

I'm with BeWiser Colin, they are an agent and I haven't specifically asked about European travel but they may be worth talking to. My cover was with Aviva.

I changed to Classicline last year mainly to get cover for "Track Events" i.e. the Silverstone Parade lap, as an added benefit UK and European breakdown cover is included.
